received and installed this shims from kaon.
remove the tape i placed on the striker to stop noise and then went for a spirited drive down bumpy roads, then the main road on both the 'sport' and comfort suspension settings. no noise, squeaking or rattling from the barn door.
initially i installed both shims, but there was a lot of contact with something when i tried closing the door, so i removed one. i still get the feeling something is touching but its much less than when i had both installed.
installation was straight forward, but i had someone help slide the shims in as i rotated the door to get separation between the hinge and the door.
before calling for help i was lifting the door up, down and side to side trying to get it away from the hinge and i wouldnt be surprised if i messed up the alignment a bit while doing that.

today i installed the second shim as the noise has been coming and going. now i have a new issue.
the shim on the right had some corrosion, i cleaned it off and applied shin-etsu silicone to both before installing.

no idea wheres its made or what it is made of so ill be keeping an eye on it to catch any corrosion.

Reason: more information
Installed at lower hinge only. No noise, no creaking, no tapping like noise. raises the door just enough to not hit the striker. Used only one shim. Definitely worth it to get rid of that noise in the back.
I was able to track my annoying squeak to the rear hatch area after months of casual attempts to locate the source. I tightened the spare as that was the source for sure I thought originally, but it didn't help. I tightened the jack so it couldn't move around, the squeak persisted. I finally had a buddy ride around in the cargo area for a bit the other night, and we were able to track it to the hatch. Some fluid film on the striker and guides and it has been silent for days...so much better.
So I finally found my noise and THEN I find this thread...isn't that always the way, lol.
I fixed a rattle this past weekend which I assumed was the rear door but was not (it occurred every time I closed the door or hit a large speed bump).
My rattle turned out to be a plastic fastener than fell out which was keeping the thin metal support for the rear bumper fascia to the underside of the frame.
With the fastener gone, the metal support was tapping the frame causing a rattle sound. Installed a new plastic fastener and she's silent now.
Also if you live in a rust belt area, the exhaust heat shields are prone to rot, become loose once there's no material left for the nut hold against and then rattling commences...
I check the jack as many have posted that’s where they found their rattle from the back drivers side area. My Jack was tight and after reading another
post I touched the plastic in the wheel well and there was the sound! I put drywall fasteners in two of the three existing plastic clips and then a screw. I used a screw and washers as you can see on the third connection point removing the plastic clip entirely. Both ways work but the plastic drywall anchor and screw was easiest. You may need to snip the end of the anchor off if it’s too long. Fixed! No sounds!
Wanted to give everyone an FYI. I have had the same issue that others have had on their GXs. It's a squeak or creaking sound in the rear of the vehicle that happens when you turn or hit bumps or sometimes even just braking. What the culprit ended up being was Part #s 69410C (PLATE ASSEMBLY, BACK DOOR LOCK STRIKER) and 69461A (STOPPER, BACK DOOR SIDE MALE, RIGHT) These two parts total around $30 at the dealer. I dont have a how to as the dealer replaced them under my extended warranty but looking at the parts, seems like it would take about 5-10min to do so as its just an unbolt and swap kind of replacement. Just wanted to let everyone know in case you have searched and searched like I had to in order to figure out what might be the culprit.

Reason: Title Change
What is making the rear door clunking sounds on turns?
When I make left or right-hand turns on residential streets at about 5 to 20mph, I hear a clunking sound from the rear door. It doesn't matter if it's a left or a right; it happens 90% of the time. I've removed all things that could potentially move and create noise, so it's definilty the door moving and contacting the striker.
Does anyone else have this problem? How did you solve it?
