You shouldn't have any issues if you are estimating the cargo weight correctly. Those U-haul trailers weigh about 2,000 if I remember correctly. Just go at the speed limit or a little slower and keep some extra braking distance. You will definitely notice the trailer when it comes time to fill the tank.
I would focus more on the equipment you rent from UHAUL. I have rented those trailers twice for long hauls up and down the east coast. Make sure to inspect the tire tread for screws and nails, pressure in all tires, and the link bolts on the leaf springs. I found a bolt missing on a leaf spring once and had to detour to the closest UHAUL dealer on a Friday afternoon before a holiday while I was loaded. He took a bolt off of another one he had in the yard so I didn't have to transfer the load to his trailer.
I visually inspected all of the above at each fill up. May was well do something proactive while the pump is filling the tank.. Saved me from an accident for sure.
I've been trying to use the search function w/o success. We've narrowed down our choices between the QX80, the LX and the GX. I know the max towing capacity for the GX is 6500lbs. Anyone here towed something that's is close to that capacity? I know a truck will be a better choice but the wife said no. Please help secure our choices. Thanks

I own a GX460 and it pulls my Pathfinder 23 with no problemo. I've towed this set up from Destin to the Keys (basically the entire state of Florida). I'm been very impressed with how well this vehicle does tow something with some considerable weight. My father has the infiniti QX and I've used it also. I can tell you the QX does a great job too, but the mileage you get is really really bad. Really bad.

Looks like the QX is sagging on the rear. The GX looks balanced with the limited picture reference.
I regularly tow a ~2850 pound race car (it's at least 3060 with me in it) with a 1000 pound trailer. The longest distance I've done is about 300 miles, but the GX460 tows like a champ. Just be careful of braking distances - even with properly calibrated electric brakes and controller, braking distances get materially longer.
I tow my PCA F-stock Boxster S on an open Trailex with my GX460 all the time. With the usual caveats (i.e., braking distances longer, etc.) it tows very nicely.
We are planning a move from Alberta to the Toronto area in the next month or so. We don't have a whole lot of furniture in our house that's of value. Since we have to move our GX in any case, we were thinking of towing most of our valuables in a UHAUL 6'x12' trailer.
I don't have the hitch installed yet, but the dealer here will charge about $750 or so.
We expect to load about 2500 lbs or so.
The distance traveled will be about 2000 miles or so.
Is this move possible with this type of trailer load? It'll be the first time I'm attempting something like this, so please pardon my ignorance.
Any tips/suggestions will be appreciated.
I pulled a UHaul 6'x12" trailer, pretty loaded, for approximately 1,000 miles. It was very simple behind the GX and most of the time at 70 mph. The biggest issue, BY FAR, is the quality of the equipment you are renting from UHaul.
Before paying the dealer $750, I suggest reading some of the posts on that topic in this forum.
