@NewB2Lexus this dealership does the video walk through and sends it to me via text. Pretty cool how they do that, show the whole car and give details. the tech pointed out the leak, even though I can't see it at all on the little video, and made mention it was near the AC compressor.
After watching it I talked to the advisor to find out more. neither of them seemed to urgent on it. No receipt of itemized estimate for the repair either, only the receipt for the oil change.

Question Anyone here done the Timing Chain Cover Oil Leak fix themselves?

Has anyone here done the fix themselves?
I know I'm capable of doing it; I'm just wondering if it's worth the hassle.

I did the coolant valley plate leak repair last week, and it wasn't too bad. I'm debating doing the timing chain cover oil leak repair soon. Would love to hear any feedback if you have any.

How bad is it leaking between oil changes?

It's not puddling, but it's messy in there. Looks a lot like the pictures in this thread. Annoys me that it looks like that.

Are you cleaning it up between oil changes?

No way to really clean it, as it's all over the place, and in areas I can't reach.

•• Well ventilated area or outside and wear some eye protection

Any brake cleaner from your local auto parts store will melt away that oil away from engine

If you need to get into tight spots

Flex straw attached to brake cleaner can / cut straw to desired length

Amazon Amazon

Use some of these to lightly clamp end of straw and you can spray anywhere

Use rags as needed to collect the dissolved oil as it drops off the engine

One of these spring loaded tools might work for you as well for tight spots to attach to straw

That's awesome, I'll give it a try.
How about plastic and hoses? Do I have to worry about the brake cleaner prematurely aging or corroding those things?

IIRC.. non-chlorinated brake cleaner is safer on plastics and rubber. You should be able to target areas of cleaning with suggestion in previous post as well.

Default Timing cover gasket failed

2016 GX 460 121500 miles. This is the second GX with the same issue. First 2011 460 now my 2016
This is rediculous Lexus knows of this issue but won't fix it 6 years later. $4500 dollar job out the door.

I'm still dealing with a droning vibration Humm that Lexus gave up. Things like this will make me Give up on Lexus for good, they are supposed to be reliable. Soooooo frustrated.

If anyone knows why Lexus won't fix timing cover gasket please reach out.

I guess this is more of a rant.

I'm hoping that one day they'll issue an extended warranty campaign for the timing cover and valley plate leaks and we can all get reimbursed. I've gotten money back from Honda and Volkswagen that way in the past.

I actually had Lexus good will my 2011 GX timing cover, I didn't bother with this one because I bought an extended warrenty, which I'll recommend to everyone the rest of my life. This isn't like Toyota to not fix a known issue.
Thanks for the respone

Wisconsin is harder on vehicles then most every other state because we see almost every single weather condition. From 110* and humid/dry, to -30*, and salt on the roads. I am in no way making excuses for Toyota/Lexus, but we chew up cars and spit them out like now other state in the nation. I agree on the extended warranty, and if nothing else its a fairly expensive piece of mind for me as I typically maintain all our vehicles.
