Has anyone had luck getting their timing cover leak repaired by the dealer with goodwill outside of the 70k mi warranty? I've had it since I bought it with 100k not I have like 136k.

Yes, had 100k on it and they paid for it, bought another gx and same thing happened but they won't do it to mine this time it is only seaping and not leaking. They didn't change a thing from 2011 to 2016. My aftermarket warrenty wouldn't do it either. Call Coorporate they will open a case but vehicle has to go through service center first. Good luck

What aftermarket warranty do you have? Do you mean the extended warranty? Did you purchase your GX brand new on the one which Lexus didn't cover your aftermarket warranty? What year is your GX/

I have a 16 gx with 133,000. I bought an after market warenty from dealership after I bought the car used from a private party with 93,000 on it called Endurance. I recommend spending the extra $1000 and buying a Lexus backed extended warrenty, if I would have bought the Lexus extended warrenty they probably would have replaced the timing cover gasket. FYI your not married to any extended warrenty, you can literally buy a warrenty have thousands of work done and cancel it the next day and receive a prorated amount back on the time left, not the amount of money they paid. Vehicle has to pass an Inspection first.

My 2011 GX with bad leak from timing cover was paid by Lexus without me doing anything at 100,000 miles.
Call Lexus Coorporate and bug the heck out of them, the more Lexi you have owned the more likely they are to give a good will, heck the worst case scenario they will give you a few hundred buck as a dealer credit to use later.

I bought my ‘14 about 2 1/2 yrs ago and purchased extended warranty from Caredge (fka Your Auto Advocate) because it covered seals and gaskets. Had timing cover repaired about 4-6 months ago and was covered by my warranty less $100 deductible. Here is a parts list if anyone needs it:

I kick myself in the backside as I only had serpentine belt replaced. While they were in there, should have done pulleys and water pump as well as coolant hoses.

Have you cleaned everything up with something like brake clean and then observed how much you are losing between oil changes?

Nothing is really lost, but yes I will be using brake clean to monitor the area I can see.
Thank you

I’ve never taken the time to do a thorough cleaning but there are wet drips that suspend on multiple places. It never seems to drip in my driveway through - probably just blows off in the wind. I don’t think I’ve had to add in between OCIs but I’m sure it’s down some towards the end. I fill usually high up on the limit at changes.

Since it’s a little late to add the parts for this radiator job, I’ll go the permatex route. First- I’ll clean with degreaser, then spray with foot powder to locate the leaks. Then add the 82099. Fingers crossed

What I have noticed is that the timing cover oil leaking will accumulated on the skid plates. I will take a big leak to show up on your driveway.
