No it's not. It's based on a Land Cruiser Prado used all over the world in harshest of environments the way it meant to be. That's why it has all these 4WD capabilities. North American market is just a byproduct. If you want a mom wagon without 4WD sillyness why don't you go back driving a Mercedes?

If you want a "mom wagon that does away with all the 4wd sillyness" then why would you get a GX when thats basically its primary (and well advertised) characteristic? You could've easily figured all this out before even having driven 1 mile let alone 25,000 miles.

Hmm sounds like a 2wd honda pilot is a good fit for you. Sits 8, no 4wd gadgets and doesn’t drink gas like a pig.

I'm still curious about why did the OP purchase the GX and drove it for 25k miles while knowingly that this car doesn't suit his interests. The GX is clearly made for off road duties and durabilities along with refinement, it never will be a mom wagon.

A pro for both my wife's GX460 and my LX570. People hear it and don't rush to walk in front or behind us in crowded shopping center lots.

What's funny is as soon as the Lexus GX becomes a more car-based, soccer mom CUV, these same people complaining will no longer want to drive one because it won't project the same image.

Why would you go from a girly GLE unibody to manly BOF truck?

I am sure Toyota will not. Simply put, Toyota really doesn't think this was a "mom wagon". In fact, OP maybe the only one who had thought GX was a "mom wagon"

The Honda Pilot doesn't drink gas like a pig, but also looks like a pig

We had a Pilot for almost a decade, an 08 and a 15. It is not remotely the vehicle that the GX460 is regardless of features. I've seen a pilot in an accident and a GX460, weight and structure matters and the GX460 has it in spades. Pilot is also not as durable long term. Squeaks and rattles started at 45-60K miles and were incurable. GX quality is lightyears ahead.

Just drove 15 miles home in blinding rain with minor flooding on the roads. I would have definitely pulled off the road in the pilot(s), the GX was unfazed.

Is the pilot a better choice for a modern full featured SUV for <100K miles, yes. Is it a better choice as a daily driver and road trip vehicle, nope, GX wins.

While I disagree with most of the post, I have to say that in NJ 7 out of 10 gx I see are driven by women. My wife seems to think it’s becuse they too like the trucks toughness.
