I have had this problem since day one and the dealership hasnt been able to fix it. So sometimes I leave my headlights on when I exit the car only to come back and realize auto off feature doesnt work....I always thought this was a headlight programming problem, until my wife took over the car and the problem has excalated into "honey the car wont start, battery is dead" issue. So Ive been looking at several things and what most comes to mind is: When you turn off the car, the car waits to get a driver door open signal and then close signal to auto turn off any headlights left on. I have checked driving with my driver door open and I do NOT get the door open indicator that normally pops on if you have left any door open. Which leads me to believe this is the problem. On the door piller there is a rubber black button that depresses which I assume is the door open check switch.....I press and depress it and the lexus emblem on the door sill lights and goes out....SO it kinda works....What else signals the car that the door is open?

Keep in mind that this feature is for all doors. I have learned to wait for the headlights to turn off before I open the back passenger door knowing I will have it open for a while. Interior lights are functioning normal?

Disconnect the positive lead from your battery for one minute.
Reconnect the positive lead to your battery.
Reprogram the 'Auto-door and Auto-lights' functions, using the directions in your user manual.
