That does look good. I agree, the price is so much better than OEM.

i May give it a try at some point. This is the first time I’ve seen the GX460 with this option.

yes, that OBSV is wonderful!

You may be one of the few to replace their covers on the forum. Like @Jacket i've had the pleasure of installing seat covers on multiple vehicles. The first time took about 8 hours as well, after that you know what you're getting into. Just be patient, get a good set of tools (I prefer to use regular pliers and long nose vs. hog-ring specific pliers). Let us know how it turns out for you. I'm sure in a few years this thread will be brought back up as the GX ages and people look into replacements. As for Lseats.com - i've seen others not-specific to the GX use them in land cruiser builds and are decently satisfied.

Most reputable aftermarket (Katzkins for example) tests their seams to be in compliance with airbags. I've seen Katzkins covered cars crash and the airbags did deploy. No idea if they actually deployed as intended.

Does this vendor claim airbag compliance?

Default dye leather seat

Hello,

I bought a GX with semi aniline leather and the driver's seat showing wear on the side bolster (typical for year/mileage). Anyone recommend a good dye product to buy?

Thanks

You need a kit like this
https://leatherworldtech.com/aniline-dye/

Because you have semi aniline leather there will be (or was) a clear topcoat this has to be removed before the leather itself is dyed. I've never done semi aniline leather but have done a few "coated" seats I first cleaned and rejuvenated with Leatherique, then cleaned with SEM Soap, they sprayed. In your case you dye first then spray a topcoat although the last step is optional.

Thanks for the link but I don't see a kit. I only see 1 bottle of Aniline Dye. Is this what you are referring to?

You need the aniline dye, then the top coat which they sell with different gloss levels. I highly highly recommend you use Leatherique first before doing the restore make sure you use it in a warm environment (room temp or more) or it won't work properly.

BTW their site is dumb and hard to navigate but I've hear their products are good. Also if you have never done leather restore work before then consider finding a pro shop to do it. Either way use Leatherique first.

edit - they do sell a kit

Thanks. I was able to find the kit as well. Thier website is really dump.

I have used leatherique before on my Nappa leather M3 but leatherique does not restore the leather if it is already worn out. The leather I have has cracks/paint faded from side of the seat. How would leatherique work if leather is already worn out?

Leatherique makes sure the leather is 100% clean and conditioned before you apply the dye. Or you could try what comes in their kit which looks to do a similar thing.
