The new CBI covert bumper. Next up, trying to get something scheduled with 4x4labs for the rear (they only have done the 470 so far). Their rear bumpers, imo, are the best on the market -- I believe there will be good demand once they do the 460. CBI also makes a killer one but unfortunately it doesn't appear they will be doing the GX.
As far as rear ends go, here are the options I've seen available so far.
Dobinsons $1850
Sold as a complete kit with both swing arms (tire and jerry can) and the lights (reverse and indicator) included. What I like about this one, besides the very clean lines, is that the wheel is
offset to the right so that it might be possible to retain the factory location of the backup camera. Maybe the spare would block part of the view. I don't know, but the guide lines overlays
would still function normally to aid in parking and reversing. That's cool! Now the downside to that is that your spare is going to block your right taillight, but Dobinsons solution to that is to
include reverse and indicator lights in the bumper itself. You can install one, both or none of the swing arms. I haven't found out how much it weighs in any configuration. Dobinson rear bumper for GX460
Expedition One $1845 powder-coated with tire carrier arm
This one claims to give you the ability to open the rear hatch and swing the wheel carrier together, which is kind of neat.
I assume some drilling in the license plate area is required to achieve this. The overall look is very clean. I also like the beefy recovery points.
They also offer a 2 swing arm version, but I think I prefer the single because the tire is centered making it possible to remount the backup camera in the center of the vehicle.
The weight on this one is the heaviest of the bunch, however, listed at 190 lbs and I'm not sure if that is even inclusive of the "optional" swing arm Expedition One swing-out bumper
Coastal Offroad ~$1800 with SINGLE ARM aluminum or ~$2000 WITH DUAL SWING ARMS aluminum
The lightweight option. This is the only one I've seen that is available in aluminum. Opting for aluminum and just a single (tire carrier) swing arm, the gross weight is ~92 lbs if
my math is right. The catch is that you have to weld this kit together yourself. My welding skills are rusty at best, and aluminum welding is right out of my league altogether.
The steel version is available at a much lower price. Coastal Offroad GX460 Rear Bumper
Metaltech 4x4 $2420 (Stage 1)
This one features a single swing arm, onto which attaches both the tire carrier and the jerry can holder. That design seems like it would put a lot of strain on the spindle with full gas bottles.
That's why they overbuild it and add a gas strut. But those design choices come at a cost. 165 lbs before you add any bells and whistles.
The integrated footholds on the corners are a nice touch. You can get lights for them or 12V accessory plugs. Most expensive base configuration by far.
