Odd... sometimes my buttons are lit, other times not. I found it strange that when I'm in my dark garage at night and I open the door, that the lock/unlock buttons are not lit when I open the door.
Is this normal for a 2011 Base Model GX 460? {I believe I recall seeing them lit before....} [Or maybe it was ME that was LIT!]

All buttons backlights will be on when you have headlights on (or parking lights are switched on) and ignition is on. So, when you opened door in garage when ignition is off, the only lights will be on are: doom light (assumed you are set on "door" position" and footwall lights.
Same when you approach the car and open the door? What happens in the dark when you open the door? {Yes, be careful how you answer that 2nd question please.}
Is this programmable? Or if your comes on, and mine are NEVER on, I'm suspecting a bad light source.
Its just difficult fumbling around in the dark for the unlock button.
Mine is a base. I tested it in the garage last night it was about 6 to 8 feet but I think you’re right, from what I recall it is usually when I reach for the door handle.
