I really like this project but it seems difficult for me. However, some of you (the knowledgeable one) can be the "engineer" and we can donate a small amount of $$$ for you to buy these parts to try it out. Just a thought.

I have decided to try adding all the possible options to my '14 GX providing all the wire harnesses are all existing utilize the OEM parts. I am reaching out a vendor in China and should know more about availabilities of following parts which will pretty much complete the project:

MTS & Crawl Control:
859A1-60040
84790-60070

Front camera and side view cameras, steering wheel switch:
86790-60200
84250-60240-C0 (black, for those of you with Tan color, using E0)
Side mirror assembly with camera, That part number involves few option. In Asia both sides of mirror are curved. I am still deciding if I will using some of current components or replace only the needed parts.

Adaptive cruise control and pre-collision warning:
88210-60141
84632-08021
84633-48010
45286-60520-C0 (Black)

The most expensive part here is 88210-60141, distance radar sensor, and from what I am reading so far, no additional ECU needs to be replaced for those functions. With all of those, basically completed US version of Drive Support Package PLUS the Canadian version of Technology Package. GX Lane Departure option is utilize the side view mirrors for lane marking. The only option missing here is the auto high beam, which actually require to replace at least one major BCU which I decide to stop there. In most of driving situation I have, that is not a really useful option anyway.

I will keep everyone posted on those parts availability and how far that I can take the this project to.

GXOverland from IH8Mud took these pictures for me of his fully loaded Canadian spec '10 GX. Looks like a little careful Dremel work and OEM camera would fit fine on mine.

So, from the picture, I have noticed the front camera mount is also a plastic extension bracket from upper portion (right below the logo) grill, although for 2010 - 2013, there will also a cut out in the grill in order to mount the camera (if using OEM one). For 2014+, no cutout is needed, just need to find a way like a custom bracket to attach to the grill will do the job.

Here is mine. I need to get a picture at same level as his pic. I think the bracket above is holding the emblem in. I'm gonna see if I can get the dimensions of camera. I'm not beyond making a bracket to mount lower as well.

Yours looks like the bracket extension for the camera. All you need to do is the cutout. From the pic for 2014+ that other member posted, there was not the extension. I will have to verify that after I returned. If that is the only thing missing, which is not too bad and I am sure we can figure out a way to mount the camera.

I can see something there but not sure if its for the camera or just an extended plastic piece.

Looks like the notch on the bottom is for the camera. But the top (right under the logo does not have the extended bracket for mounting the camera. However, I did see the is a lip extended out, which made easier to customize something there to be able to mount the camera. Also, will have to cut the vertical piece in order to have the camera installed. Seems for '10 - '13, there is the same grill inside, but with cutout outside for camera option, and for '14 and up, there are two versions of upper insert grill components for with or without camera option.

I have also done more researches on adaptive cruise control part with vendors for where I am going to source the parts. Looks like there are more to it just adding the distance sensor. Since GX pre-crash system involves "driver monitoring unit", that makes a little more complicated. There are additional wire harnesses that needs to be in place alone with the driver monitoring component. Not to make this project unnecessary complicated, I have decided to keep off the adaptive cruise. I originally thought LDA was utilize the mirror cameras based on parts description, but further research has found there is actually the windshield mounted camera for that function. Therefore, I will keep that option off as well. The good news is the Steering wheel switch panel, there is an option for just the camera button. So, I will be concentrate on just adding the cameras to simplify the project, and it is also more practical as well.

Now my shopping list has shorten to Crawl, MTS, Front and Sideview Cameras options

I was looking at these recently. None of which will be a direct install on the GX as they are geared towards the Prado 150.

Front view:
Camera 1
Camera 2 This one looks promising to me. Scroll down and see larger images. There is a picture of the actual camera behind the plastic trim piece. It looks easily removable and can be fitted onto the GX.
Camera 3
Camera 4 (same or similar to camera 1)

I figure at this price, I can go through about 50 30-40 of them before I get to the cost of the OEM camera.
Some silicone around the seams would probably make it as water resistant as possible.

Edit:
And with enough interest , one of those companies may entertain a special production run to fit our pre and post facelift GX's.

Sideview cameras.

Side View Camera 1 (Requires Drilling)
Side View camera 2 (adjustable and stick on)
Side View Camera 3

Some will be better quality than others (video and production). If the Side view grids can be used, we have to find the right camera degree/angle used.

I prefer the idea and look of OEM stock cameras, but I don't think the cost is worth it. The cameras (depending on which supplier you get from) will be similar in video quality. If Lexus had 4k or 1080, then it would be a different story.

Finding camera or using non-OEM camera is not really the issue. The key is how to integrate the imaging with the GX with original MTS function to be more OEM like in terms of function. Based current MTS and CC mod, lots of GX function are "enabled" based on "presents" of certain hardware. Therefore, maybe the only OEM parts, may provide needed trigger signal in order to enable certain function. Just a wild guess.

I was removing the mirror to confirm if side camera connectors were present. Unfortunately they are not. I scoped it with my camera and couldn't find the camera connector anywhere. A new run would be required.
