2016 GX 460 reliability
Im looking at buying a low mile (22,000) 2016 GX 460. I have been looking at 4Runners, but they are a little unrifended for my taste and they drive sluggish. My question is if the GX I find has a clean bill of health from my mechanic what kind of long term reliability am I looking at? I am meticulous with my preventive service and rarely go off roading. Is there anything with these SUVs that I should look out for??

Consumer Reports (and many other car mags) dislike the GX460... it gets panned when compared to the BMW,Audi, MB crowd, but most agree the reliability and cost of ownership are far better.

Honestly I have no idea what those articles base their stats on. How do you know if a car is going reliable within 3 years that it was produced. And how does an electronic issue (assuming issues others have had) are even close to having a misfire, fuel pump failure, going into limp mode in the middle of the highway are all worth the same ammount?
I understand it’s hard to rate reliability, but honestly, which car do you think will make it to 150,000 miles with the least major issues? That’s what I want to see stats on. Oh wait, resale value... that’s all you need to see.

The Consumer reports reader survey can be unreliable since their readers started confounding the infotainment and navigation system with the vehicle's electronics.
Some of the issues that reader survey complain about are the non-user friendly interface for the infotainment. These are due to poor UX design rather than actual problems with electronics.
A poorly designed navigational and radio interface is a very different category from a busted transmission or failed engine head gasket, which are mechanical problems. On the mechanical front, the GX has probably never been more reliable.
