Brandon, check with Sewell Lexus and ask them if they have a Key Card for a 2012 GX 460.
I still don't have a credit card key for my GX and the dealership finally gave up. Does anyone have a credit card key successfully working on their 2012 GX?

I've had one of those cards for my GX 460 for the last 3 years. Bought it from Sewell. DON'T buy anything else they advertise for the card. It works great.
I have the key card for my LS600. It is going to be a personal choice and my preference is the key fob which is why my key card sits in a drawer for emergencies only. For me personally, I like using my fob to open the doors before I get to the car and on the GX there are no sensors on the back doors (except for the barn door) so that would mean I would have to touch the front doors first and then go to the back doors to put my kids in instead of just hitting a button in my pocket (I know, it saves all of one second but is a nuisance to me). The other reason for me to use the fob is that my wife and I always switch cars depending on what we are doing and it is easier for us to hang both fobs up and just grab the one we need when we are leaving. I also don't have a George Costanzo type wallet anymore so my smaller wallet will not hold the key card since it is too big.

I do believe your local dealer is wrong, I talked to Sewell about it and it can be programmed, at least thats what they told me a year ago.
