Default Low Idle

Hello all,

What cause the vehicle to have Low idle? My '15 GX often idles at 500-550 RPM when in "D-drive" and it vibrates (like it is going to die). It happens all the time when the vehicle is at operating temperature (already warmed up) and you are at red lights or stop sights. If I put it in "N-neutral" the tach moves up to 700-800 RPM and it is as smooth as butter.

Does it happen to your GX? Thank you.

Mine idles around 5-600 at operating temp in D as well but
not vibrating. It’s actually very quiet. When cold it stays around 8-900 for a few minutes and sometimes surge up and down a bit.

How many miles on rig now?

Some things off the top of my head would be like vacuum leak, fuel pump, dirty fuel injectors

Is it same with AC on or off?

28k miles.

with A.C. on it is around 700 rpm in drive. The thing is when it dips into 500 it shakes/vibrates a little then it bounces up to 650-700 rpm then smooths out.

It behaves like this since 5000 miles, took it in once about 4 years ago and service director said there was a weird code thrown, reset it and they "raised " it up 100 rpm higher...this is very questionable .

does yours vibrate when it DIPS to the 500-550 rpm?

thanks all

I'll have to pay attention next time I drive it at what RPM mine runs at.

I don't get any vibration feelings at idle under any condition.

Would your online service record history with Lexus show what the code was?

No, he did not tell me what the code is but he said that they adjusted it by "adding 100 rpm higher" but I have no idea how they did this. The standard idle RPM seems fine. I will have to bring it in, I hate doing this since it is time consuming.

Thank you for looking into this.
