Lightbulb GX460 Hidden Winch Mount

Not sure how many are interested but here is some pictures from the hidden winch mount I recently installed in my 2013 GX460.

Looks good!!! Good to know there is room in there. Nice WARN winch. That is the only brand I have ever used on my Wrangler and my quads. My father still uses the one he put on is old '80 Chevy pickup back in 1981.

Yeah I have a 2014 JKU and I have the same winch minus all the fancy wireless controls. It has been rock solid with no issues. You can't beat the speed and reliability of a WARN.

Wow looks good! Did you install it yourself?

I like it. I also like when people put on a drop down license plate in front, then 100% hidden

After looking at this again I am curious what this is. It is in the plastic bumper so I don't see how this would be support for the wench and the small grille bar is added.
Thanks, cool setup!

HitchCrack: Do you think the aluminum bumper is strong enough to support the fairlead if one was winching from an extreme angle? That aluminum doesn't seem the strongest from what I have seen on mine and seems to be more for impact collapse in accidents.

I think that might be for an off-road LED light bar

Ah, I don't recall seeing it before the bumper mod.

I forgot about that conversion... that negates my concern about the aluminum bumper as that is removed with a MetalTech install like that.

Yes sir, it wasn't really a difficult install. What took me a while was figuring out the power steering cooler relocation to fit the winch on to the plate.

The aluminum crash bar is not supporting the winch plate, the winch plate is self supporting. The plate is bolted to the bar but that would be it. I didn't use the winch in an actual recovery while it was mounted like this so I can't say if would have caused any issues but I would have trusted it in any recovery. In the picture below you can see the gussets under the plate that are hidden by the aluminum bumper.

lol yes those were for a 10" led bar I had on the bumper. I didn't get it mounted back up before these pictures were taken.
