My 2016 doesn't have the screen at the bottom of the P/S reservoir like in the video and also in the .pdf that Arcad posted.
I know the video is of an older Sequoia, so maybe Toyota removed the screen at the bottom of the reservoir. I haven't had time to check out my 2019 to see if it's different
I've done a total of 6 drain and refills on the reservoir so fluid is looking like new, but know I have 9 more to complete 100%.
Is anyone willing to monitor power steering pressure with obd2 while driving? I'd like to verify the readings I got yesterday while out and about... thank you
@Acrad Thank you... those values line up with what I saw yesterday, usually in the 60-100 psi range driving at speed, however at slow speed (backing out of out garage and turning wheel or standing still on pavement and turning the wheel I saw pressures in the 1080 psi range.
These pressures confirm it's not worth trying to modify the power steering fluid system by adding an aftermarket cooler, too risky at those pressures.

Debating now about continuing to do drain and fills of the reservoir (1 a day for next 2 weeks) or take the time and flush the system once, like I have in our previous vehicles.
The reservoir drain and fills are so easy with the Amsoil easy pack and this extrator:

I was amazed how clean the fluid was I extracted... started saving a sample for color comparison.
I have only been able to get 3oz out of the reservoir each time... which means I have roughly 18% new fluid in the system.... regardless what it looks like I'm going to do enough extract and fills to get thru the entire Amsoil easy pack... so likely 8 more, which will put me at 10 total and roughly 62% new fluid.
Not sure how anyone extracts more than 3 oz (~29ml in an 1 oz) since the reservoir is near empty after pulling out roughly 90ml.
Not sure what you're using to get the old fluid out, but I would get close to 6 ounces with the device listed in this post....
What year is your GX? Mine is a 2016 and the initial fluid was terrible burnt and dark.
I would use the tool to get in all the lower areas towards the outer portions of the reservoir.
Are you using the red or blue Amsoil ATF ?
2017, fluid on the first extract wasn't that bad... haven't tried to extract from the hoses,. Will attach a long hose to my syringe tomorrow and try to extract down in to the hoses a bit for round 3...
Ok, did 3rd extract and fill today...
At this point I'm going thru the motions so I do not have an open easy pack and to have something to do in quarantine...
The fluid I'm extracting out of the reservoir is red, perhaps only slightly less vibrant with a flashlight on it than new fluid.
Feels good to be getting new fluid in the system and keep my reservoir from staining....

Completed my 7th extract and fill from the reservoir today. (Not enough left in the easy pack to do an 8th, so I'm done.)
Gonna shift to doing an Amsoil easy pack worth annually to freshen up the steering fluid right before summer to keep it looking like new and performing optimally. [no reason not to, it's such an easy service and 1 easy pack is cheap.]
