So I did my power steering flush this weekend and was anticipating the power steering pump to only pump fluid when turning the wheel, but that wasn't the case with my 2017. As soon as the engine started, the pump started pumping. Not sure if something changed via other models, but this is def a two man job. One starting engine, and the other manning the fluid level.

Changed the PS fluid on my 2017 this weekend at 57k miles. I used the Toyota ATF (highway robbery at $14/quart). The old fluid was black and smelled burnt. New fluid is bright red and clean. Used my Mityvac fluid extractor and pulled old fluid out of the return hose until new red fluid began to be removed (kept reservoir full of new fluid while this happening). It took just under two quarts for a full flush. The steering is again silky smooth and quiet. This only took about 15 mins to complete and I am a bit embarrassed I waited this long to do it. Very simple job with immediately satisfying results.
