Lightbulb What power steering oil to use

I was searching on google on what type of oil to get and it's kinda confusing as some place it's suggested to use Transmission fluid instead of the power steering fluid. Please advise what brand and type of oil everyone is using here. Thanks

I just used a turkey baster and some Valvoline Dextron 3. I though I read there might be something in 4 to stay away from it for power steering. I did this over course of many drives and would suck out what was in the reservoir and replace.

I didn’t know AT fluid can be used for power steering. I thought it is some sythetic hydraulic type of fluid.
I have 1/2 a bottle of redline AT sitting around. Hmmm

I think as long as it shows some designation that compatible with Dexron II or III you should be fine

Ok so the level was lil low and the steering was whining and I did as suggested took some old oil out and added according to the suggested level. But the steering is still whining. What do I need to do next there's no leak as I laid underneath the engine area and looked around for any oil etc. thanks

The system holds a little over a quart so I would try driving and swapping out until quart is gone to see if that helps first. There may be some air bubbles trapped in system depending on how low it was. It may take some driving to get them out.

This will be next on my to-do list. I believe my fluid has never been changed and at 109k, it's time.

Is there any other way to take out the old oil cas the turkey thing is not going inside the container enough to take out the old and it is definitely darker then it's suppose to be.

Sorry.... you are correct a baster is too wide for that opening. I specifically used one of these battery syringe fillers. The one I have cleared the opening. I think I got it off eBay a few years back but I assume most of them are all the same size.

Default Power steering fluid change

Wonder if anyone has changed the power steering fluid of GX460? Lexus dealer told me they use Mobile ATF D/M and sold me one bottle for $13. They also recommend not to use Toyota WS ATF fluid. What fluid did you use ? Thanks a lot.

There has to be a way to disconnect the return line, jack up the front and turn the steering wheel side to side to push the old fluid out. I don't have the GX with me to check but that's how I have done it in the past on all my trucks.

The cause of a whine in the steering system may be related to worn out gasket and air entering the system somewhere, not necessarily old fluid or low fluid level. You can start the engine take off the cap and see if there are bubbles forming in the reservoir. If there are you have a a leak somewhere and air is sucked in.

Ordered the battery filler bulb and a gallon of fluid... about $25 for both on Amazon. Will knock this out next weekend.
