Default I know i will regret asking but...

I just recently bought a new GX 460 premium. I was so confident in everything this car has to offer that I did not even test drive it before buying. I love everything about it but, i know its not a popular opinion, I would like to know if there is a way to make it a bit lower and sturdier on highways and high speeds. I cant believe it moves over so much when a car or tuck passes by on highway speeds.
Its a premium so it doesn't have air suspensions so are there any aftermarket springs or something that can help with this situation.

Wow, I have seen people asking how to raise the suspension of GX460 but never heard about lowering. I'm also in queue to get this car next week, have took a test drive however didn't feel the shakiness you mentioned, I guess would have to test again!

So far I was confused in GX460 vs Porsche Macan (before anyone gets annoyed I know they both are absolutely different however with the current promotions ON - i was getting both the cars at same price).

GX is pretty notorious for being at the mercy of wind, large body on frame SUVs are . Idk how much you can affect the body roll without disrupting the KDSS system. My guess would be lower the center of gravity, stiffer suspension, and wider tires would be your best bet if you want to improve stability but then i would just trade it in for something car-based rather than truck based.

You can go up to 20” rims and lower profile tires to help with body roll. But lower won’t help much in windy condition.
You also want to check the tires see if they are low pressure.

i don't know of any device that would directly help. tires +1

the only sway control on any large suv is primarily active ride like xwind control on a merc gls

I've been in a few precarious wind gusts but I was driving too fast for conditions in the 70-80 range. It did feel like a handful at the time.

If I come across any specific lowering options I will update. Saw someone on GXOR who was wanting to lower their GX 470.

I never felt like that in my truck. In fact it doesn’t feel any different then many body on frame SUV’s I’ve driven.
if anything, I feel super confident like I’m driving a tank down the road.

My experiences were probably in 45-60MPH winds.

The 460 is definitely impacted more than a 4runner. Just does not seem planted like the 4runner with high speed winds.

Maybe someone with alignment knowledge or experience could chime in. Would this be beneficial for our vehicles? I posted these links a while back for the "pulling to the right issue."

Stiffer sidewall (more plies) tires in 18 or 20 inch diameter will make a big difference, as well as stiffer shocks ( may need adjustable to make a good difference)

Sounds like the first thing to try to get wider tires. Any idea what will be the best option? 275,285,295/65/18. Will these even fit. I really don't wanna go a sidewall down.

You could lower it with springs, but I wouldn't. How often are you in high speed wind conditions where it actually affects your safety? Probably almost never. Wider tires actually won't help with this because although they can help with technically improving track width, this is more of a body roll issue.

It's been windy lately in the southeast... have you driven other large SUVs? You'll get blown around in anything. Tires or suspension won't help.

I find the GX to be an excellent highway vehicle.

I love the GX. I think its the most comfortable truck ive ever driven. This is just one thing that I am concerned about. I have owned a Tahoe before and driven it for long trips and although it had its own set off problems, it didn't feel so light against the wind. Maybe because it did have wider 20" wheels.
