Default Gx460 2011

Hello Clublexus members..
Im a new owner of a gx460 2011 with 60k mileage on it, I go it from a friend whom it was 1st owner.
I like it a lot, my take on it is the wear that you can see on the driver's seat leather, and my 2nd q is, " I know ppl went over this before" about the gas mileage, any way I can get better mpg? I live in California, can I use 87 gas instead of the pricey 91 premium? Any real damage to the engine might happen?

Thanks .

Welcome to CL
There's a lengthy discussion on the gas subject in the thread below
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...ny-issues.html
For short term, there shouldn't be any damage to the engine as it is designed to retard timing for lower graded fuel. However, no one knows the long term affect. You may try to run a few 87 tanks in yours to see if you can feel it.

Which part of CA you're at?

Fill up at Costco for less expensive fuel. The engine was designed to run on 91. Putting in a lower grade will retard the timing & will decrease the amount of power the engine produces. Is saving a couple dollars per tank worth the risk? Personally I think if you are trying to cheap out and regurally put in lower grade fuel you are driving the wrong vehicle. May I suggest a cheap beater car for commuting that requires 87?

I wouldnt get gas from costco if I were you. I ran a tank of that stuff and it killed my gas mileage and made my ES350 run like crap. Yes low grade gas affects gas mileage believe it or not.

Might be a regional thing... I use it in all of my vehicles and haven't noticed any ill effects. We get most of our oil from Alaska and processed through local refineries

Same here. Costco at my area sale 93, and I have been using then since day one. No issues.
