Agreed ^^^, sounds like the mirror assy is physically broken. The mirrors are designed to "break free" from the fold mechanism when something foreign comes into contact with the mirror so they don't break. Folding/unfolding the mirrors with the switch one time will return the mechanism back to normal after that happens. If its still unfolding too far, its broken physically.

Yes. Yu can just replace the body color mirror cover. You will need to take the mirror glass off, the cover is held by several clips which needs to be released from behind the mirror glass.
I just received delivery of my 2015 GX460 from a transport company and found a rock chip on the window and this broken piece on my mirror. I am going to be filing a claim but wasn't sure if this clear piece can be replaced or if the entire assembly needs to be replaced. Does anyone happen to know? As for the windshield I was thinking I would just get it filled vs trying to get an entire replacement as I don't want to introduce possible wind noise problems and they may not agree to replace the entire windshield.
It is a separate piece, and can be replaced. Will take some work, you have to remove the mirror glass, then the mirror cover, in order to access the turn signal assembly.
I just purchased a 2018 GX 460 base with nav.When I put the suv in reverse the driver side mirror tilts all the way down and is not usable,the passenger side tilts slightly and is usable. I have tried several ways to stop this.At this point all I can do is set the mirror rocker switch to the middle, which locks the mirrors so they won’t move at all. Any advice would be appreciated!
Put your car in R (the mirrors will tilt down), turn the switch to the side of the mirror you want to adjust (not neutral position) then use the mirrors adjustment pad to adjust the tilt down amount to your liking.

So it appears that there is no memory adjustment for the mirrors when in reverse. ( bad design)
I also have a 2010 RX 350 and the mirrors tilt slightly and are usable when in reverse,
