Fold-in side mirror fail?
Hey all. I've got a tight squeeze in my garage, which requires me to fold-in my mirrors when I enter/exit my garage.
Anyone else experience failing mechanics of the fold-in mirrors from excessive use? Of either the interior button or the mirrors themselves?
I've been doing this, almost daily - since buying my 2011 GX in late October.
If these are prone to fail, I may need to enter/exit my garage at an angle to avoid folding them in.

Someone is going to have to point out a thread because I can't think of one here or there about failed electrics with these mirrors. It is usually a thread about a damaged mirror that someone has run into garage wall or post.
I will go out on a fairly strong limb and say "they are not prone to failure" ... or everyone is keeping the problem to themselves. :-)
I'm running the OBD auto folding mirror mod so mine are actuating multiple times a day now in and out.
If this is any evidence to how long a power folding mirror lasts... my father purchased a new 1993 Isuzu Trooper in late 1992. This vehicle above a base has power folding mirrors like the GX. They work perfectly to this day on vehicle over 25 years of age. Now... I will say he doesn't use them everyday but they are used from time-to-time.

Some of us are running the odb plugin that folds the mirrors each time the doors were locked for a while. I haven’t seen anyone report any issues with it. The IS and LS models have this feature and didn’t see many reports on failure either.

Here is the original thread discussed about adding auto folding mirror features to GX. There are few options to get the OBD module for that mod.

repeated use of folding mirrors isn't an issue at all. I can vouch for that. My e70 x5 has the auto-fold features and I used it everyday for more than 5 years before getting rid of the car. If BMW auto fold works reliably, then I would think Toyota/Lexus would be even more reliable.

W/O CAMERA, W/POWER FOLD. I am wondering if I replace it with 87910-60E40 that has the camera function, do I need to install BSM switch separately?

Ha! The same thing happened to my wife's GX460. I found that the correct part to replace the mirror is 87910-60E30 Mirror, Right W/O CAMERA, W/POWER FOLD. I am wondering if I replace it with 87910-60E40 that has the camera function, do I need to install BSM switch separately?

Do you already have the Front and Side monitor package with the front and right cameras?

Actually the cameras are for this option
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...a-support.html
The BSM (Blind Spot Monitor) sensors are in the rear fenders and are only available on '14+ models. '10-'13 do not have BSM.
