Thanks for both replies - I've looked at it carefully and it doesn't look like an easy job for an amateur. If I could take the mirror out I think it'd be a fairly easy install but I don't see an easy way to get at it. I'll probably take it to a dealer a bite the (cost) bullet.

To follow up, after being iced in for 5 days, in and out of town, etc. I finally got this to the dealer and had it done. $131.74 is the answer. That's an hour of labor and a small "kit" that was required.
It's done and it looks and works fine. They actually took the mirror off of the car to do it. It might be possible with less effort but I'm glad that I didn't attempt it.

i just replaced my signal today. it was cracked slightly on edge.
part from sewell #81740-60100 - $65.20
had to pry off mirror 1st. its attached by 3 dabs of silly putty to inside round base plate.
then had to remove 2 wires attached to mirror and another below.
then, there are tabs inside that you pry up off black housing, and the colored outer casing snaps off.
now you are left with just the black housing.
unscrewed 3 phillips head screws and removed signal, put new one in and attached wire.
i didnt take pics cause battery died, but if anyone has questions, can answer
total time - 20 minutes.
hour of labor and kit and removing whole side mirror, totally unneccesary.

I went to the dealer yesterday to disable the steering wheel extending/returning and the side mirrors turning down when in reverse.
The dealer was not able to disable the mirror turning down in reverse. Has anyone got this done?
My is 2014. I read it somewhere that this is dealer service only.

Yes, move your switch to the center position and they won't tilt down. If you have it on left or right, they will tilt down. I would find another dealer, they don't sound like they know what they're doing.

I don't use dealers for much but I have the same function on my MDX. I would think that it is a general feature that should be known.I am guessing many of you with the 2014 and maybe earlier models have experienced a lack of knowledge from the dealers?
What have you experienced with the dealer knowing answers to your questions?

Hi All,
I have been trying to find this information on this forum and on the internet with little luck. There was some kind of accident somewhere that broke the turn signal in the drivers side mirror on my GX 460, 2012.
I have worked on other cars before and it has been easy, remove the screws holding the housing in place, and based on swell's site I can see the new signal bolts on.
However, I see the 4 philips screws behind the physical mirror, and I can access 3 of them, but not the 4th. It seems I would need to remove the physical mirror and I cannot figure out how.
This has to be simple, I just need to remove the painted covers and I am all set, its just how do I get to that point?
Thanks in advance!

T4FUn, thank you for the instructions. I am going through exactly the same thing replacing the turn signal on the mirror. I got the mirror off and disconnected the cable. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to get the colored panels off. you mentioned tabs, but which tabs? I would appreciate your help.
