In FSM it states with Safety Connect live you should wait 6 minutes before disconnecting the battery.

What? Who got time to wait six minutes. As busy as our lives are. I just don’t have the patient for that. Seems to work just fine with my GS F. Both got safety connect. Just the GS’s got a fancier screen

I don’t recall full details as it has been a while but replacing the battery in my base model caused it to run poorly, as in lack of throttle power. Took several minutes to stabilize, I pulled into traffic and it was like I was in limp mode.
I would try at least a 10 minute disconnect for the problem posted here.

Bad news guys!!
took the car in and they want to slap me with a $11000 new unit or $3800 for a refurbished unit. They would not warranty my unit cuz I took out the battery. I’m in major shock right now. They said I some how short circuited the unit. Funny thing is. The screen still works when the backup camera was used. Think I can just replace the radio and climate controller part? I found some on eBay for under $2000. I’m signing out away from being a Lexus fan. I feel that Lexus IS to blame for making the car this way. I’ve taken batteries out in the past and never have I encounter such stupidity like this. What do you guys think? Should I call the Lexus head quarter and see what they can do?

On on the bright side. I found this for us GX owners. A Tesla style touch screen unit with direct fitment. Yeah, you’re welcome guys. I *** a little when I came across this unit. Lol

You might want to reach out to one of these companies. The unit itself is pretty easy to remove from dash. There is video on Youtube.

AFAIK...that unit relies on the head unit piece that houses the radio and HVAC controls.
You should be able to find a used one or get fixed 3rd party for far less than what you were quoted.

It won't! The Tesla Android unit require original head unit for control of A/H, as well as CAN Bus integration. Further more, the unit which I had tested still have software issues. Although factory did send me some new software, but I just don't have time to actually test it. More detail you can find in a separate thread on this forum.
