I keep a cloth baby diaper I my console which is what I was using to wipe the screen. I applied a little, and I mean LITTLE pressure to get a fingerprint smudge when it cracked. And I have elevated it to the highest level at the dealership and tried talking to someone at Lexus to no avail.

OP: Do you know if the dash has ever been apart before? or a service visit that required it? Sounds like an existing crack that was already there beyond the view of the nav fascia and all it took was a little normal pressure to bring the crack further onto screen.

I've seen these replacement touch screens on eBay and Alibaba in the $100-$150 range that say they are for a GX 460

PN appears to be this when looking around---> LQ080Y5DG05

Default Replacing Touch Screen

My in-dash touch screen glass cracked on my 2014 GX 460. The dealership wants to sell me the whole unit for replacement. I've seen online that I can buy just the glass digitizer. They are sold with 4 pin or 8 pin wire. The dealership has no idea which one I need. Anyone out there ever had to replace their glass?

isnt the software (UI) for these units stored on a hard drive somewhere? It sounds to me like your data file used to boot the operating system has been corrupted. I would imagine there should be a way to reflash the hard drive software back to its factory settings. Did you discuss that option with the dealer?

They replaced the entire unit head unit. Is the hard drive located somewhere else?

The 10-13 models have a hard drive for maps, possibly a small amount of user data and the untapped "rip CD to HD" function not available in our market. This hard drive is replaceable through a door on head unit. The '14+ use a Micro SD for map storage. Everything else is on-board in the head units within flash-able areas to upgrade firmware and OS.

Default "Infotainment" Screen Froze...Unable to control anything.

I had something weird happen today after I ended a call that was through Bluetooth. After we hung up, the screen seemed to freeze on "Call ended." Nothing I could do would power off the radio or switch screens on the main screen. I was also unable to control the volume, nav, radio stations, etc. I tried disabling my BT and turning it back on but nothing. I finally had to pull off the interstate, turn off the vehicle and then back on and everything was back to normal. I assume it had something to do with the Bluetooth or call, but I have never experienced anything like that. Has anyone else had this happen?

Had this happened to me as well. I think that our system is so damn old that it does not communicate well with iPhones and new iOS updates. Similar happens on my minivan too (Sienna). In fact, my Sienna’s (2017) reboots every other day when using my iPhone. The GX gets stuck (like you) and does not do the reboot thing like my Sienna. Turning off engine solves it.

This was an Android, so I guess neither Apple or Android OS makes a difference in this case.

Different system than one in my '12....

https://securedp.lexus.com/download-app/downloads

It doesn't show as available but may want to take a pic or video of behavior next time. Lexus may need to release a compatibility updated for whatever is triggering this issue.

For what it’s worth, on my Sienna system...and i have updated it to the latest software...still reboots. So, i doubt that Lexus (or Toyota) has solved this problem. Maybe once they transitioned to Apple / Android compatible headunit....

Hey, if this is the ONLY thing that Lexus gets wrong, then i am a happy camper. As long as it does not brick my iPhone, i am OK.
