There has to be an issue with GX NAV unit. Replacing battery is a simple work. If a $100 battery job can trigger a $3K NAV replacement, there is a design issue. I would fight to have lexus pay for replacement cost of NAV.
Btw, it is recommended that a 12v DC is maintained while battery is being swapped out, so computer info is kept as-is.
Make me think if I have to go to dealership to change battery next year.
I agree to maintain battery voltage when changing the battery. way too many people have had issues when they don't.
note do not just connect a battery charger then remove the battery. the charger depends on the battery capacitance to keep the voltage low. without the battery the voltage on some chargers can go up to 35V and fry stuff.
they do make adapters that can go into the power port/cigarette lighter socket and use a 9v. might need to leave ign on while battery swapping depending on if the lighter works with ign off. could also use a regulated power supply.
or just connect jumpers to another car.
I have a 2014 GX460 (Premium) and was recently told by a Lexus/Toyota repair specialist that I need to get a replacement GPS/TV screen/info center as the unit is completely dead. I was looking on car-part.com and it looks like there are two versions of the part available, and I'm not sure what the difference is between the two (86110-60330 and 86110-60340). Are both compatible for my car? Help?
@JonGX - I'm looking at parts on car-part.com, which are ~$1,500 - $1,800. Still a lot, but much better than buying brand new. If anyone has suggestions on where else to look, I'm all ears!
If the OP goes with car-part.com, I wonder if a repair shop would be interested in buying his bad unit for a few bucks to help offset the cost of this.
Hello everyone,
I have purchased a 2020 GX460 couple months ago, I have been noticing screen is very SLUGGISH. specially on the GPS and/or when I change setting on the climate controls. My previous ride was a 2016 4RUNNER and screen response was 100 times better than my current GX.
Is anybody experiencing same issue ?
