2016 GX Camera not engaging
Noticed yesterday that the camera on my 2016 GX 460 isn’t engaging when the car is put in reverse. It doesn’t go black, static, or no signal. It just stays on whatever screen it was on before like the cars not in reverse
Any ideas?

Assumed you have not done any mods for display and camera related areas, if no screen change, that is missing the trigger signal. You will need to trace it from behind display, all way to body ECU, all depends on where it has stopped. As you have indicated it is a 2016 GX, it is still under warranty, I will take it to Lexus dealer for service before you started to take everything apart.

Are the back up lights coming on?

I'm definitely out of warranty - its a '16 with 80k miles on it. The backup lights come on, yes. I also looked at the fuse diagram and it looks like it might be on a shared fuse - I checked the rear wipers which seemed the most likely, but the wipers work.
Any other ideas?

Please confirm the post from hzhao. Have you been in any part of the GX that may cause this?

looks like if the camera just isn’t switching over it’s a software problem? If the issue comes up again I’ll follow up here. Thanks guys!

2021 model - no navigation?
Found a base model and the dealer is telling me no navigation. On one hand, I will only use the OEM navigation every now and then or if perhaps my phone doesn't have reception. On the other hand, it's just nuts that in 2021 they are excluding this from a premium vehicle. It looks like they added heated seats however, woohoo!
Edit, I see the from the Lexus GX build site indeed the navigation is an add-on option. Still welcome any feedback about navigation being used and other considerations. TIA.

I rather use Google maps for navigation. I tried to input an address and it was the worst experience. I was trying to put in marcy avenue it would show marcy street boulevard but would not show marcy Avenue. It kept directing me to 3 options of marcy and I had to keep going back to type in the avenue to show up. It took so long I was like f it. It does come with lifetime traffic though

Well, someone bought the base model I was considering so if I move forward it will likely be premium. With discounts same dealer it was about a $3100 difference. Heated seats were a must and every base I've seen that has that added as an option.

The standard work around to a No Nav car is to use Apple Car Play or Android Auto.
Although Lexus largely (and belatedly) jumped on board in 2020 for most models the
GX does not yet have either ACP or AA even in 2021.
