Default NAV/Map update

I am aware GEN, SD card, of how to install, and the yearly update in the fall. My question really pertains to why the Lexus website states:“Version 18.1 is the newest map update available for purchase from your Lexus dealer for any Lexus vehicle using GEN4 and higher hardware. This version was released Fall 2018, and yes, even as of the Spring of 2022, this release is still the most current version.”

Are they just giving us the same maps on the SD card that comes out yearly?

And I am able to purchase the SD card update for $210 from my local dealer. Price difference must be do to local market price. I’m in South Jersey.

In the maintenance tracking area of infotainment the last date I can set is 12/31/2027 on my 2012

•• What is the last date you can set on '14-'21 head units?

Default Upgrade 2019 GX Base without Nav to add Nav?

I have a 2019 GX Base that didnt come with nav.

I haven't yet found a thread yet about upgrading to the factory nav. I mildly interested in getting the factory nav to get nav in areas without cell coverage, or maybe to get one of the radio upgrades that feed into the nav (GRU, Beattronics).

Is upgrading as simple as buying part 86110-60390 and swaping out the part with what i have now? Any downsides?

What is the "box that adds carplay/android auto to the factory head unit" that you are referring to?

Default Bluetooth Mic Gain Adjust on 2020

I think I know the answer, looking for confirmation. Bluetooth mic is notoriously bad from the factory. First phone call to my wife after I picked up the vehicle and she said "why do you sound so bad"? I also have a coworker with a 2017 GX and his audio is less-than-desireable when he takes calls from his vehicle.

I have spent some time searching and it looks like in the older vehicles there is an option to change the mic gain in the service menu you can access by holding "INFO" and cycling the headlights 4 times. I can get into the service menu but I don't have the bluetooth mic adjustment options that are listed in the threads. It seems that they may have removed this adjustment from the infotainment screen in the later models and it now needs to be performed by Lexus via service laptop.

Can anyone confirm? It also seems to be hit-or-miss on whether the service tech even knows how to make this adjustment depending on which dealership you go to.

I just found the “Transmit Volume” adjustment while on an active call. I bumped it up a few notches. Will see how that works.

Under Function/Check in diagnostic is there anything else missing? I haven’t see anyone post about this area for 2020+.

Could you post a pic of the screens if you have some time? This would be good to compare for other missing items as well.

Good afternoon all! I have been reading about head unit failures in 2nd gen GXs (stuck screen, cannot use climate functions, etc.) Several posts come up after the SD card is removed. I have read if this "screen freeze" happens, really the only thing you can do is get a unit from the junk yard unless you want to pay thousands. Has there been a root cause identified for this problem? I don't have this problem currently, but it is on short list of concerns for GX ownership. How likely is this to happen? I have a 2020 GX with 50k miles.

I had an issue where the SAT radio would get stuck at '000' - the ****, the scan buttons, etc wouldn't work. I think maybe after turning on and off and toggle away from SAT it would work again but would occasionally get stuck for a few beats. I brought in last week and they 'rebooted' it. So far so good, but they said if it happens again they will replace head unit. I purchased a extended CPO VSA, so I still have about 1.5 years on my warranty on my '13. I kind of am not sure if I want it to happens again, so they replace the unit, or I don't, since who knows how carefully they will be pulling the dash apart. But yeah, the main reason I opted for the 3 year VSA was for potential stuff like electrical/head unit issues, rather too much concern about powertrain.

In the grand scheme of things, those problems are actually not that common at all.

Default GPS not operating to set route.

2014 GX460 GPS will not follow set route. The location it is set for will be entirely different than what is on the screen. If I disconnect the battery for 30 seconds and reattach the cables, it will work correctly for about an hour of driving. Supposedly there is a Technical Safety Bulletin that addresses the issue, but I can not finf it. Anyone have any helpful information?
