I agree with the OP. When backing out of our driveway in the dark my wife and I both actually have to put our hand over the screen because it is nearly blinding. I had wondered the same thing.

GX460 SiriusXM Radio and electronics
I have a 2015 GX460. From the beginning I have been having problems with the electronics in the radio,navigation system, and phone system. My dealership even replaced the entire system about a year ago. I am still having problems with the radio changing channels on is own, Sirius XM radio (which I pay an additional $300 a year for) is consistently interrupted with static or no sound at all and my contact list on my phone sometimes disappears. These problems are very annoying in what has been portrayed to be a LUXURY car. I have visited the dealership on several occasions and also called about these problems. Most recently I was told that some Engineers from Japan had just been to my dealership recently digging into the problem and that I should call back in about a month to find out what the solution is. It has been over a month and I called yesterday and I was told it is only on the GX models and that Lexus has no solution as of yet. Is anyone else having this issue? Is this a new problem for Lexus? I am looking for a solution.

Welcome to Club Lexus! Sorry to hear about your issues, I have a 2015 GX and have never experienced the problems you describe (even in my previous GX's too). Hopefully they will come up with a solution for you soon. Keep the pressure on the local dealer for answers.

Thank you for your reply.... my dealership tells me that many GX's in the San Antonio TX area are having this problem and have been for some time. I will continue to ask them for a solution. I wonder how long they can keep making excuses...

Sorry for your problems with this. You mentioned that they replaced the entire system. What exactly does that include?

2012GX460.....That is where I bought my car also. I haven't heard that reason/excuse yet.....Good Luck! I hope you get your Serious XM working correctly. Please let me know how it goes.
tecman..... I will ask Lexus for particulars....At the time I didn't think too much about the replacement because at the time I felt Lexus was very reputable and I would probably never have this problem again... I need to get more details.
