Once in a while I got that 4-lo blinking and Throttle control out of position error. Restart usually get it out of limp mode and reset DTC and the permanent code and it will eventually go away but it happened at least 3 times now.

If one is on the fence for a Pedal Commander current $75 off code.... probably CyberMonday is BFH75

I am picking one up for another vehicle & brand.

I'm using the Giddy Up throttle response controller from Mid Atlantic Motorsports. Plug N' Play. Display is very similar in size to the PC...just three buttons. Connects using a lightning plug. No bluetooth. It's totally out of sight. I have it mounted under the radio just above the sliding door in front of the shifter. It has five modes: Eco, Stock, Comfort, Sport, and Race. The last three have 9 settings on each. I use the least aggressive "Comfort" setting, and it really wakes it up. They just reduced the price to $80. They have five different versions for the Tacoma, Tundra, etc. Know two others that successfully use them on 4Runners.

It's lousy regardless. You have an LS1 Trans AM, a GX and you're MPG conscious?

So if it got 2 mpg you'd be okay with that?

So you're saying there is a point at which you would be "MPG conscious"? Interesting.

I just get tired of people trying to shut down mpg discussions as if it isn't even worth trying to maximize efficiency unless your vehicle is designed to get 30 mpg. Makes no sense.

The 1UR-FE (4.6L) has been used in 200 series Land Cruiser in other markets since 2012

That torque gain is tremendous. How will the transmission handle the large power increase? What’s the torque rating is the trans?

Default Bonus.....and home run

What a bonus to find Club Lexus and a home run as well to find this thread right away. I'm a new owner of a 2019 GX 460...of only a few weeks. Very cool truck but a real disappointment on the throttle performance....I've always disliked electronic throttle pedals in general with experience with them on the BMW brand...dislike turned into HATE with this vehicle. Seemed like it just never wanted to go without working the pedal too hard....totally frustrating.

A hardy thanks to Acrad, tecman, bbsoup....and a couple other high post count contributors for all the detail you've provided. You all sure have ratcheted up my hope to enjoy my new truck with the use of the devices you've researched. I've read this entire thread...checked out most of the alternative products and am in the process of making my decision. It seems to me that consensus suggests that I should go with Pedal Commander as being the main stream and solid choice. I will confess the price of the Giddy Up was intriguing and the feature set of linearity or exponential response of the Beat-Sonic device very interesting....in the engineering sense. It seems to me that I probably wouldn't go wrong with just going with consensus.....despite my often contrary and non main stream choices with stuff I buy and things I do. So I guess it's PC for me.....and sooner rather than later.

Additionally I want to mention that this thread touched on another line of thought I was having and that is of ECU tuning for these trucks. Glad to see some talk on this, which I'll dive deeper into after I get my simple little tool installed. I come from the BMW world where remote tuning is pretty common place....especially for those of us who look to really tweak performance from the tuner world. Done this multiple times....including live dyno runs with a remote tuner watching the data.

I'll wrap this up by saying I'm very much looking forward to visiting this forum often to learn more about how to take care of my Lexus, what modifications are available and what pit falls to avoid. Any tips straight away being welcomed.

Thanks to all for the 3 years of work to create this very comprehensive thread.

@krellboy , for what it's worth, I tried the pedal commander and sold it within a week. It was fine above ~20mph but even in the slower modes, the car was too jumpy off the line. So much that I had to warn anyone else driving my car.

Banks now makes one that plugs into the OBD2 port and uses speed as one of the inputs to determine how much to change the throttle mapping. I want to try it instead, I've heard good things on the GXOR FB group.

Remember, all these products are doing is making the car think you are pressing the pedal down more than you actually are.
