Default 2013 GX460 Premium w/ air spring: OEM vs. Aftermkt?

Newbie here..long-time listener, first-time caller. Be gentle kind souls...

I believe my right rear air spring is leaking due to visually observations from behind the car, measurements I made at the bumper and at the top of the wheel wells. Assuming that is a correct diagnosis:

1) I want to keep the air springs vs converting to coil springs.
2) Has anyone done a dealer vs. local repair shop comparison on cost?
3) Has anyone recently done a dealer replacement? Cost?
4) There are several aftermarket options for the air spring and I am leaning towards one of those. They range widely in price so I would gravitate toward the high end of the aftermarket options. Does anyone have a view on which AM parts work or generally suck?
5) Has anyone fixed one side at a time? The repair looks fairly simple but not something I would do myself. Maybe in my younger days I would jump in there.

Sure it's not the '10-'14 lean issue?

I think TSB is replacement of a spring

Thanks for the quick response and attaching the TSB. Mine is "leaning" as described. It's about 3/4" lower on the right wheel well which means it is still in "spec." Ha!

I'll see what other replies I get. What a strange issue to have from Lexus and not be addressed on every affected vehicle. We have three other cars including an '03 Lexus ES300. No leaning on those cars. Maybe I'll get used to the lean and ask for it to be added to our other cars.

I had the leaning issue as well. They replaced the front right spring and it did not resolve the issue. It was leaning to the right 1/2"-3/4" after the spring replacement. I think it varies day to day. If you are planning to replace the airbags with factory I noticed the price on them on Ebay is very reasonable. I am looking for upgraded air springs as well since I want a lift but also want the factory leveling capability. I noticed that Airbagman from Australia has upgraded air springs for longer shocks but do not know how well it works. I sent them a query to see what they say.

This is what Airbadman rep toldf me about their kit. This looks promising. I wonder if this kit would be compatible with ARB OME BP51.

Thanks for your enquiry.

Please find the quote attached regarding our air suspension kit, which is the perfect solution for your GX460.

Also included in the quote are links to our kit flyer.

Note this system requires you to have 50mm raised rear shocks and 50mm raised front struts.

This kit is provided with airline adaptors and height sensor spacers to maintain the factory air management system.

If you have any questions or wish to place an order please let me know.

Kind Regards,

For those looking to upgrade the air springs suspension with OME BP 51 and 2" height increase air bags from Airbagman, here is a Prado that had upgraded with the same components.

That is pretty cool if one replaces AVS shocks but wants to maintain AHC with stock controls and self-leveling.

That's my goal. I think 2" lift is fine for me. I am ordering the airbags now. Unfortunately, I will not proceed to lift it for a while. Otherwise I would report back.
