All the cameras for GX (or all Lexus current models for that matter) are using the same CCD pickup based camera with standard output pixel of 720x540 if I am not mistake. However, the display process and screen on 2014+ model year GXs have a better resolution and graphic processor. So, upgrade camera is not going to do anything for you, besides, the housing of front camera is in different case due to grill style change. Also, replacing OEM camera will result complete re-initialization and calibration for the cameras in order to display the imaging properly. But, without replacing the head unit, it's not going to change any image resolution for you.

Is it possible to upgrade the 2010-2013 head units to the 2014+?

I'm just gonna say no... not practical.

Time, effort and money to do it would make vehicle replacement with '14+ a better option

What options are you interested in?

+1. Definitely not practical, but also with possible incompatible harnesses as well.

The updated OS and Nav System?
I have a '13 with the GEN6 Nav Unit which looks and feels outdated. It would be nice to have the GEN8 unit that's in 14-18 GXs.

I installed the Factory OEM Nav Unit into my old car that didn't come with a Nav unit and that was a PIA, but luckily I was able to get the Nav Unit and entire wiring harness from a salvage hard. I was hoping it would just be a swap for this one since it looks like they have the same features.

I don't think it's a simple swap (I could be wrong). You need to take a look the behind of head and display units, if all connectors layout are the same.
