2018 Gx Nav. Map Outdated
I got my new GX in January 2018. I have noticed the navigation map has not been updated since my 2014 GX. Waze app is real data compared to Lexus mapping. The new Tappan Zee bridge is not on the Lexus Nav map. This has been opened for 2 years.

OEM map data update is often slower than others for various reason. The legs are due to manufacture procurement process since LEXUS is not the manufacture for the head unit, and GPS data, as well as the OEM software integration. That means all the units needs to be pre-ordered based on production scheduling and planning. You can compare your version of the NAV software and the currently offered update version with Lexus parts department. Just be aware, even most current version of Nav update offered by OEM, will still behind real world about a year or so in general. For 2014+ GX, update is relatively easy, just need to replace the micro SD card and unlocking code. If I am not mistake, since 2014, there is one version of update. IMHO, the $199 update is not worth it at all since it is already behind anyway. I will using the OEM nav for general reference, and using phone if the OEM nav became insufficient.

I used the nav on my 2015 GS a total of 1 time, for the goof of it. I wouldnt trust it even to guide me around the block.

I used the GX's NAV (and sometimes along with Waze on Iphone) for long trips for destination to destination only to get an approx estimation of arrival and rarely inside streets, which I use Google Map

Tap on "Options" in the upper left corner of the map, "Map Data" and you will likely see "2017.."
This is OEM on a 2018 car for all the reasons hzhao described above. There may not be any
significant changes in your area but it is unlikely to have zero updates since the 2014 maps.
Best approach to updated information in any 2014 or later Lexi is Lexus App Suite. Bluetooth
is for phone/music, LAS is for data. Add the App, log in for free and select App Suite before
pressing the talk button. Say what you want and your phone finds it and drops it into the Lexus
Nav map.

Only reason I got nav updated on my older '12 model is because the map update also include a head unit firmware update with a ton of infotainment fixes that covered everything from maps, music and stability. I think the only thing without bugs was the HVAC. On the '10-'13 the update is pushed through a Firewire 800 connector you will find under the dash closer to the gas pedal. I posted a pic in the thread I posted about update.

I have come across two “Road Closed” with my Sirius/Xm traffic service in the past few weeks and it is not shown. I enter the address on Waze and it is a known problem and gets me around it. I added this service months ago and it seems to be a waste of money

The older Lexi only had subscribed XM for Traffic and Weather and both were dismal.
2015 and newer have HD terrestrial based info for free and it is vastly superior.
XM covered major highways only, HD includes 3X more, refreshes more often also.
XM weather was a complete waste of time, HD is real time, colorful and includes local
and distant forcasts!

Finally got to experience some of the 3D maps on my 2014, but I had to go into downtown Denver to start seeing 3D structures populate on the map.
I also recently updated to the 2018 maps, since mine was still on the original that GX came with, at least as far I could tell. So far, I haven't run into any major SNAFUs using the factory nav, which is good, as I prefer not to use my phone.
