Picked up a '16 luxury trim - couple of questions
This weekend, I picked up a used GX luxury with 35k miles. The previous owner apparently liked to enjoy the beach or trails based on the amount of dust I found in all parts of the vehicle. I'm not sure it had been washed thoroughly in the last 2 years, but whatever... The dealership did a decent surface wash on it, but I gave it a another pass, detailed the inside, cleaned the engine bay (wipe down), but I did notice 2 odd things. It's missing a rear passenger side fabric floor mat - ok, no big deal; I'll have rubber mats in there asap. And 2 - the plastic trim that covers the seat bolts mechanism (on the floor - there are 2 of them on passenger side rear and driver side rear. How would I even start to look up the part number for those 2 pieces of plastic trim?
I also noted that the pistons that hold the rear glass hatch up had a little rust on the shaft and the bolts to which they mount had some corrosion. I don't remember that with previous 4runners that I've had (pistons are similar). Is this a warranty item I should pursue?
Thoughts on an aftermarket tow hitch - I don't tend to tow anything, but I do want the hitch. Is the Curt model (available on Amazon) for class 3 a decent enough option? Or should I look towards the OEM version?

Acrad, thank you for the quick help. I have a feeling I'm going to pick your brain over the years... These are in the back seat, floor level, taken from the passenger side. Top pic shows one of the missing covers and the 2 present covers. The second pic shows both missing trim pieces. Disregard the towel in the seat, I put it under my son's car seat.

Acrad is like our research department around here. Tecman is our r&d tester. Overall we have a great group.
I installed the curt class three that only required 4 bolts, it has been great and very low profile. I have towed a few uhaul trailers with no sweat, nothing around 5k tho.

My wife found the trim pieces under the front passenger seat and they all snapped into place properly. Crisis averted I guess? I drove it on the sand at Corolla beach this week - it performed well. Luckily it has been raining a lot, so I was able to wash down the undercarriage with some big rain puddles. I did an oil change on Friday afternoon, changed the air filters (cabin and engine), and went on with the rest of the trip. Oil change was just like the 4runner, but the shield did seem a little more sturdy than that vehicle. It's not quite as nice as the Range Rover, but I am loving this so far!
