Does the GX feel tough?

This is probably a stupid question. A GX is on my short list once I find the right (used) one. I like real trucks, not grocery getters (like the RX); I don't care if this drives like a truck bc that's exactly what I want.
This being a BOF truck, does it actually feel the part? I assume the answer would be a resounding yes. I've looked at them close but I've never driven one. The Lexus refinement and smooth ride is what I'm also looking for, but does this truck feel tough? Like run over curbs like it's nothing "tough"? I have a 2003 GMC Yukon, a larger platform but a true truck (like the GX), and my favorite thing about it is how indestructible it feels and drives. Another example would be at an intersection where it "dips", where a car's suspension just couldn't handle it without slowing down, where you could just annihilate it in a true SUV, like it's not even there.
This is what I want. Is this what I'm getting once I buy?
My target range is a '13 (maybe '14--I prefer the older styling but want blind spot monitoring, etc.) with 60ish k miles.

Tough drivetrain and suspension, yes....Tough body panels, grille and interior, no. The driving feel is tough, just don’t bump into anything and be gentle with the interior. It is a truck on steroids under the hood but it has a delicate skin.
This is coming from an owner that is street driving only though![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

It is. It is heavy and it feels like it can withstand a beating. My old Land Rover felt dainty in comparison. This is a luxury car prepped and poised to tackle primitive roads in Africa. Make no mistake, they are the toughest vehicles in the world. We went from a GX470 to an RX back to a now, GX460, none of that crossover feel. Drive one, you will feel it right away.

Yes.. proper BOF truck. One of the main reasons I bought it. Really did want a 4Runner but the lack of BSM and RCTA made me look at this truck and boy am I happy. I drove 2k miles within the first week of owning it and she was a dream to drive along with the proper feels of a truck.

I recently purchased a 2015 GX, and I love driving it almost as much as I enjoy driving my IS-F but for totally different reasons. It feels very confident over tough terrain and is amazingly comfortable on long road trips. So far I have been very impressed.

Btw toyota would sell the crap out of 4runner if they just gave it a minor update.

Yes it handles big bumps without issue and it certainly feels solid underneath. However, it doesnt handle the small bumps as well as I can feel a slight jolt going over it. Probably due to the heavy wheels and suspension components. You can definitely feel the solidity of the foundation and frame, but the body does shudder on occasion and I think that is to be expected. Otherwise it is the quietest vehicle I have driven, at least on a test drive.

It’s based on the Toyota Parado sold overseas. It was designed for 3rd world roads and infrastructure. It has beefy suspension components. As for the US market we got the tough Parado in a Lexus tuxedo package.
