What exactly is the issue with the balance? How would a car change the tire balance after it has been balanced. I could see the tires cupping due to soft shocks (which is most of the BOF vehicles have), is that the issue?

i don’t think anyone says it’s the car causing balance issue. Balancing is done off the car but vibrations are another issue.
Some people relate poor balancing to “cheap” tires. Not saying that’s the case here or with KO2s.

That's what I mean, how could balancing be the problem when balance is done off the car,

what would be causing the vibration?

I’m not an expert but my guess would be the stiff sidewall of the tire + the (somewhat) stiff strut of the GX not being able to absorb the road conditions compared to a proper Michelin tire.

I went out to the desert 2 weeks ago on I-10. 85-90 mph the whole way. No shaking whatsoever. My KO2s have about 2k miles on them so far....

I have had BFG KO2s since 2016 on my 2010 GX, and think they have performed great. I have a 2.5" lift and I am running 255/70 R18 32"x10" on stock rims with no rubbing at all. My KO2s are about 5% larger diameter than OEM 265/60 R18 30"x10.5". Expect a drop in mileage even after adjusting for size. The KO2s run about 55lbs a tire which is almost 20lbs per tire heavier than the Michelin OEMs. I have noticed that after offroading I can get some vibration from the tires, but most of the time it's due to the tire holding onto a rock or mud and once the tires are clean they ride fine. I do balance and rotate every 5k miles. I have noticed minimal tire noise with these tires, traction is far superior to the OEMs especially in the dirt...
Just my $0.02

Leftyguns, do you run the same tire size in the spare location?

If you move up to an LT rated tire you need to adjust the pressure. A Load C should be running about 40 psi, Load E will be 45-47 psi.

Default BFG KO2 in STOCK size

Anyone have KO2 in stock size (265/60/18) and on stock rims? I am assuming no rub. How’s the noise level? Ride? Fuel economy hit?

And if you have LUXURY package / Adaptive suspension, then does COMFORT make a difference?

I forget who on the boards has them in stock size but they do not rub. My issue with them is road noise and more importantly the tire weight. (50lbs) I most likely will be going with the Conti TerrainContact when the time comes for new tires as they are 37lbs and have the same 9.1" tread width as the KO2's so should still look nice and wide.

I know about the massive increase in unsprung weight with KO2.........but ya know, gotta pay (later on) to play?!

My current choices in my head: KO2, Defender, and Goodyear AT with Kevlar. Goodyear seems to be best of both worlds kinda of...but not sure if best at any. And somehow, i just not getting the good feelings from it (bias to Goodyear brand in general?). Defender is great and all but its tread is soooo boring and i really want a strong sidewall.
Fuel economy dipped over what though? The KO2's? In my case, I drive 99% on highways and city streets and am just looking for something a little more aggressive.

Compared to OEM tire...see: https://www.minimumtread.com/contine...at-review.html

"We have, however, observed a small decrease in fuel economy. Initial impressions were that our 6 cylinder Jeep was just a bit more sluggish off the line, and we sensed the engine laboring more than normal to get up to speed. According to the onboard mpg calculator our average is down about 0.5 mpg (2-3%) with the TerrainContact A/T. (Update: A few months in we'd estimate the drop in overall fuel economy to be more like 1.5 mpg.)"

Yea, I would expect that with a 4lb gain per tire over what they had OEM, I mean any of the tire options your looking at are going to have a similar effect. Let us know what you end up going with and give us some pics. Good Luck!
