I still haven't given up on finding one of these though... I like the integration with existing switching on steering wheel. If interested just let VAIS know... they may produce another batch
Sent an inquiry to Vaistech late last week asking if they might have one sitting in inventory somewhere. They told me they would check but thought they did. As luck would have it they did have "one" last one. Shipping out today. I like that it uses existing controls on steering wheel. I asked them if they had any others and they said... "this is it."

Glad you got it.. I promise you'll get over the novelty of it couple times of using it. I was of the same opinion that device mirroring is as good as android auto and will be a game changer. Haven't used once (Beatsonic) since install because tablets are still the best thing for watching video.
John00 : From your recollection were these three "starred" connectors the ones you remember plugging into? Looks like all the connectors are different so not really a way to mess this up. This pic came from a 10-13 head unit on eBay
Hard drive looks like a relatively simple swap compared to the one in my Infiniti head unit which would require major disassembly.
Arcad, In an earlier post I sort of explained where I placed the module but dont think it was in the pic. here's a pic showing approximately the final location. I don't remember using tape or cable ties, just sits there. I pushed it up a little onto a resting spot, didnt seem like it would ever move, but i didnt think about small crashes. this pic is from above the glovebox area, to the right of the radio support metal. i had the GX torn apart for some other camera work.
After tecman reminded me how long I have had this I decided to get this mod done. :-)
Installed this today. Just a couple hours. I won't use a lot but I will use it.
It works... I don't hear any beeps as mentioned in the owner's manual
John00: Do you hear any beeps on yours? Even if a problem not worth the trouble to remove and all I would get is my money back as VAISTech has no more.
To engage/disengage I just hold the Phone On Hook button for 2 seconds. DVD unlock I do is 2 second hold, half second off and then one more 2 second hold of the Phone On Hook button. There are 3 minute temp modes for nav/DVD but doubt I will use that much.
A few install notes:
- Gave me an opportunity to see more of what it would take to swap to the alternate screen units in the future.
- I just rested the extracted nav unit on a bunched up HF blanket. The blue one.
- To remove that small cover underside of stereo where the front covered compartment is I would recommend using one of those small orange handled HF pick kits. There is space on each side to get one of the picks with curved head on it behind the cover and then you can pull it forward that way. I think standard trim tools risk scratching things up.
- On bolts that hold radio infotainment in there are 8 total.. easy to loosen but a few that one could easily drop as well so used claw grabber to remove and start the bolts
- I ended up zip tying the unit which I had wrapped in electrical tape since it was exposed metal to an area above nav but below vents. I will listen for rattles but don't think there will be.
