Default Grill Marker Lights

I’m ready for the hate, but here it goes! I wanted add some flair to the front end. So, with some simple wiring, measurements and zip ties, my clearance lights were added to the grill. This has absolutely zero usefulness outside of looking different and not normally seen done on a Lexus. 4Runners, FJs, and the like have come up with every configuration, so I figured why not; I like the look it gives.

Which kit did you go with? Any cutting or did everything fit proper?

Made the kit myself. Solder some wires, heat shrink, PET wrap and TESA tape. You can add a fuse on the interior fuse box or tie directly into the parking light to limit your wires ran. Engine fuse box kept giving constant current with no switched power, minus the headlights.

I was was debating about putting together a few if others were maybe interested. Should hover around the $90 mark with everything.

There is one or two other GX’s online with these lights. I like the look of it a lot. But others will probably disagree.

Is the TESA tape used to secure it to the grille? There is a Tacoma kit that comes with a CNC bracket mount for a similar price If you can get a kit that is simple to install, I’d order one from you to support our members.

How are the lights? Are they weatherproofed? Some options on amazon come in around $20-50, but have poor reviews.

This is theTACO kit with the brackets.

Looks good, I just noticed your profile name, so you have an Acura NSX? Please post some pics. The NSX is my dream toy car

Looks good.

Now spill the beans on the wheels and tires. Specs and is your truck lifted?

Grill markers look fine to me but why are your headlights so purple? Was the pic taken when they were initially turned on or is that the bulb temperature you are running?
Wheels and tires look good too!

And where is the NSX? haha!

The NSX is a fantastic car! I bought my Berlina black 91, all stock, with 76k miles in 2010 for $21,000 cash. Unfortunately, May 2018, I decided it was time to cash in on its accrued value to pay off all remaining student debt and all debt. Clean slate. After 8 years of ownership I can't complain. The vehicle sold for $39,500 with 121k miles on it. Every vehicle has its flaws. The NSX has window regulator problems, main relays randomly go out, headunit amps/speakers stop, plastic gets brittle...but nothing outrageous. The early model 91-94s have no electrical ninnies to assist you. Minus the archaic ABS and traction control systems, the overall feel is unaltered and a natural sports car. With NA, 5 speed JDM short gears, 4:23 Final Drive, exhaust, the car was a dream. I miss the NSX. But I figure the path I'm on currently I will be able to pick something else to play with at a later time. You buy toys to play with them, not to stare at them.

Fort Collins, CO 2012

Timing Belt, Clutch, Exhaust all changed at 118k.

No lift, all stock suspension. OEM PTR2035110 Graphite TRD Pro Sema 17” on 265/70/R17 BFG K02.

One pesky sky inner fender screw rubs. Hit it with a heat gun for a minute and it pushes out of the way and still serves its purpose to hold back the plastic liner.

No no rubs on full lock and motion after that screw is fixed.

Reference picture.

The kit I replicated resembles this near identical. PET wrap is the flexible mesh loom you see. All connections are soldered and covered with heat shrink butt connectors then topped with PET, followed by heat shrink to minimize fraying PET at the ends. TESA tape is like electrical tape except it is of a cloth material. I use it on engine harnesses, etc because it doesn’t leave the awful hoop behind like electrical tape when it gets hot.

If if I were to make these I could do an Add-a-Fuse for people to tie into the interior fuse box, or leave two open ended connections so you splice into the parking signal. If you wanted to add an on/off switch that could easily be added to the blank spot beside the TCS and windshield wiper buttons on the left of steering column. It’s however someone wants to do it.

It is merely centered and then held on either side by zip ties. When you get behind the grill you see there's not much mounting bolts to tie into. The zip ties, tight, along with the width of the lights themselves wedge in between the grill. They have not moved in the month or so installed. It easy to wedge them in, but I would like to see over a length of time. Ease of install is around a 2 out of 10.

I’ll have to take a closer look at the grille when I have a chance. I’m thinking about doing the quad setup like @Sutnaipics on his IG. I don’t think he was ever a member on here, and it doesn’t look like he has the GX anymore.

Some taco memebers have suggested using this amber light, which might be similar to the one seen in the IG post.

I have the diode dynamics smarttap module in place of the stock turn signal relay. It comes with a flashing and strobe setting. If it isn’t too involved, I’d like to tap into the turn signals to use the hazard functions.
