Default auto engine start GX460 Luxury

I recently purchased a 2015 Lexus GX460 Luxury package. wondering if it comes with auto engine start. Ive tried the recommended Lexus Key Fob with no luck. Ive heard that I need to contact Lexus to have the fob paired with my phone? its $8.00 a month or $80.00 a year
does anyone have any experience with this?

There is nothing to do with key fob. Starting 2005, you need to subscribe to Lexus Enform Remote services for remote start function. It is $8/mo or $80/year.

excellent info thanks.
will they send me a new remote? or can I use the existing remote? forgive my ignorance I could hardly understand the woman at Lexus customer service. I'm confused on how they are able to program my fob for the auto engine start feature.
Thanks again

not true. There were 2 remote start modules made for the 2015. There was one where you could only remote start the car with the key fob. There was another one where you could again use the fob but then you could also remote start via an app. The use of the app to start the car costs the $80/year. If you chose not to pay the $80 you could still start the car with just the fob.

Hi Pinoyesv6
Thanks again for such good intel.. I have 2 fobs that came with the car, both of those fob would already have to have the remote start on the fob correct? Neither FOB at this time is able to start the car remotely, I Joined lexus Eform and waiting til the open at 0800 to speak to a rep.
Will they be able to program my FOB free of charge if it was originally designed to have a engine start?
Thanks again

in order to using just the key fob for remote start, there is a separate ECU needs to be installed. It is an option equipment and I am not sure if it is still available for 2015 since they moved to Enform Remote option. If you have the OEM ECU installed, there should be a stick on the key fob (as I have with my 2014 GX) indicated so.

We also have a 2015 Luxury model and I searched for a way to use a remote start with no luck. My 2015 GS350 has it via the Enform App, so I assumed a 2015 GX would have it too. After much searching and a trip to the Dealership (talked with two seperate people and both were Lexus "Geniuses" ) no dice! The 2015 models seem to fall into a purgatory of sorts. Too old to work with the Enform App (was told it was not compatible - at all) and the RES unit has been discontinued for quite sometime.

If you find out otherwise, please let me know.

By the way, with RES you have to be fairly close to the vehicle. With the Enform App, you can remote start it from anywhere (on my GS at least).

One can still buy the RES unit if one wants to install. I only paid around $100 for mine but here is an example on eBay.

I have a 2014 GX 460 Luxury package and my remote start is built in. I don't have to pay for anything monthly. I just hit the lock button twice and hold it down for the third time until it starts. Idk if they changed it for 2015. Good luck!

Best way to check (besides trying to auto start w/ fob) is to check under the hood for this sticker.

In addition to under-hood sticker there were also 2 small stickers that install had me place on the the lower rear side of front windows.

My $.02. My '14 Luxury has remote start that is operated by the key fob only. Press twice then press and hold. Sometimes it doesn't work and the sequence must be repeated. I think timing of button presses has to be fairly precise. It has a short effective range, and is easily defeated by obstacles. Also, the engine shuts off the moment you touch the door handle. I have a different vehicle with remote start via the key fob (a Mopar). It is a far superior system with simpler, more reliable operation and much longer range. I rarely use this feature on my Lexus.
