It's possible or even likely the pads are seizing on the pins (really don't like this design) so when you stomp on the brakes the pads don't retract normally causing the non linear pedal feel. Also possible the calipers are seizing but not common. You should not be able to lock the brakes that's what ABS is for. But if the calipers/pads are not working correctly it can't modulate pad pressure correctly.
I let go as soon as I heard the tire sound so not sure if it was completely locked up. I'll try the same in the sand to see if my ABS is actually working. The release feels fine. It's just when I stomp on the brake, sometimes it brakes fine, but sometimes it brakes super hard to make the front dive into the road. You don't have this issue with the gx?
Do you guys have issue with GX460 with hard braking? When I do hard braking, there is a point where the car brakes far stronger than my input. It sometimes locks up wheels. I find it hazardous especially when I'm towing. Is there any way to fix this?
I also feel my powersteering is little stiffer than gx460 I drove at the dealer before I bought this one. How do I get to the reference vacuum line for the power steering & brake booster where it's prone to cracking? I was thinking maybe this is connected somehow... car otherwise is perfectly fine. wonderful ride.
Sounds like you are talking about Brake Assist.

nevermind. the brake assist is a life saver when towing a trailer. it is a nuance when driving without one but that extra braking really came in handy when i was towing a cargo trailer and a guy wanted to make a left as i was entering the intersection at the speed limit. really slowed the car down significantly.
My 2023 GX460 just had it's first oil change at 1K miles, only had it for 2 months. I started to notice a noise whenever I press the brakes while driving.
See video attachment.
Buzzes for a long time on cold starts, doesn't buzz on warm starts but buzzes 1 out of 3 brake pushes. I've seen mixed reviews on YouTube from "It's normal" to "Needs new brake booster accumulator" to "master cylinder replacement".
First, it doesn't make a noise when idle, only on cold starts and ever 3rd brake push. So I guess my question is, is it suppose to buzz that often?
And second, if it's normal, how come not all GX have this noise?
anyway to reduce that brake travel in the pedal before it starts to brake on 10-13 models?
and
my rear brakes keep making a grinding noise. i did replace the oem's with remans after they failed.
had a mechanic take a look at this and they replaced the hardware, but it still making the noise
they said it looked fine and just adjusted the cable, initially its nice and tight and holds the vehicle in place, but after approximately 10 times it starts the loosen up and eventually it'll stop holding the car in place on any incline.
I’d be concerned they only adjusted the cable and not the shoe adjusters. Adjusting the cable assumes all is set fine in with “each” parking brake shoe” and you still have some extra slack in the cable to take the slop out of .

understood, my search for a competent mechanic continues.
