Are second row seats THAT bad?

I am currently researching the GX 2015 luxury model and every expert review that I have read has made a big deal about the lack of comfort in the second row seats. I am coming from a 2005 Acura MDX, and take lots of winter snowboarding road trips with people in the back row, so was hoping to get a vehicle that is somewhat comfortable. Is the bench row that bad? There would be nothing worse than listening to passengers complain about seat comfort for 400+ miles.

I don't usually trust those "expert" reviews and always take them with a bit grain of salt lol...
I took the GX on a few trips and some were about 200 miles each way and none of the passenger complained about the rear seat.

I think it's a typical bench seat and more than adequate. That said, I don't think many rear seats are all that comfortable unless your sitting in something like an S class. To me, they are a little hard, but I think the front seats are too. I'd say go sit in one and see what you think.

Thanks, I definitely plan on going to try them out. It's likely not any worse/better than my MDX. I appreciate everyone's input

I agree. My elderly mother was commenting the other day she was very comfortable back there. She liked having the rear heat option. She had not had a vehicle before with that option in the rear.

From personal experience, I find that premium 2nd row very uncomfortable while luxury 2nd row is excellent. If i'm carrying passengers in the back, I usually select comfort setting on the suspension and the ride would be so smooth.

This is great to hear! My older parents will likely be going on some longer road trips with me, and my mom has back pain already. Knowing that the seats are comfortable for your mother helps a lot. Thank you for sharing your experience.

i had a MDX 2006, i would take any lexus seats over the MDX any day of the week.... The MDX lasted 2 months before we sold it and got a RX. MDX was a good car we all thought it was just not as soft riding and as comfortable as the Lexus vehicles we are used to. i drove it for 10k miles and sold it for the same price we bought it.
