Dealership or Mechanic?
2016 GX 460 with 60k miles. Up to now have had all service at the dealership. Going forward should I use dealership or mechanic? I handle the key fob batteries, cabin and engine air filters, wiper replacement, and anything else recommended that is simple. Oil changes, brake fluid changing, brakes, etc. I don't do. Tires are Michelin purchased at Sam's and rotated there.
So, where to service for oil changes and those not so simple recommended items?
Thank you.

I will only take mine to the dealer for anything other than oil changes and tires. It’s all personal preference and how much money you want to drop for a simple job. I live in a small, rural town that local mechanics will only service an F150 or a Silverado

Research your local area shops that specialize in Japanese cars. No reason to use the dealer unless the options are limited and sometimes they are less wise than a specialized shop. With fluid changes and brakes I am less concerned so I use a Goodyear shop for convenience.
I need the spark plugs changed and they quoted me (I think) $400 or so. I am not sure I feel Comfortable with them doing this, But I do have a specialized shop that I am absolutely comfortable with them doing anything to my GX. I used their service when I was an Acura owner.

I tend to bring my Lexus vehicles past and present to the dealership. The primary reason I do so is because I get "free" service because I'm using my points accumulated on my Lexus Pursuits Visa card. I am in no way affiliated with it by the way - just a customer. It does bother me that service at the dealership is always a lot more expensive by comparison and I do have local trusted mechanics that I can use if need be.

If it isn't a warranty or a recall take it to a local mechanic that you trust. Granted, they won't have the free coffee, massage chairs and snacks but you will also come out of there with some extra coin in your pocket.
