ProClip. They have a great ecosystem of base plates and phone holders, the base plates being custom for each vehicle. https://www.proclipusa.com/vehicle/d...gx-series/2021

I followed Bob's advice and am very satisfied. Also have 12 Pro Max. This holder has gone through a few refinements since this video.

I have a suction mount down on the little sliding cover for the CD player. Shifter bumps into it from time to time, no big deal. Not great for eye level though.

I’m considering following TX:GX at this you tube link.
all depends on the tape and how clean mating surface.

If you have one of the newer “mag safe” iPhones, this mount works great. Phone will not come loose at all and it holds solid, even with a leather case. No need for metal ring stuck on phone either. I have mine mounted right below the drivers temp up-down and it holds my 12 mini perfectly.

I doubt that'll hold the 12 Pro Max's weight...

I bet it would. The magnet is seriously strong. It takes a very solid twist to remove it from the mount.

Center speaker grille + RAM track + RAM x-grip = easy and sturdy solution.

I purchased two Carmount brand magnetic mounts (with nano gel instead of tape) and placed them on the flat climate control surface above the cd slot.

It allows me to mount my iPhone on one without obstructing anything and I can use it and connect a charging cable if need be.

Or... the real reason I did this... I can magnetically mount my iPad mini 4 for road trips.

Do I want Carplay? Of course. But, with this setup, I don't need it.
