I have experienced many include, Tesla, Volvo, and newer Audi, besides the overall design, I prefer Audi with two screen configuration, which give you a clear separation in function and accessibilities. Volvo would be the worst in my opinion, with a vertical 10" display, it tried to mimic iPad experience, but with so many layers and relatively small icons for various function, it is just the accident waiting to happen. Tesla is OK, most of functions are accessible directly on the screen. The Tesla interfacing is somewhat resembles traditional layout of typical car with a larger area of Nav display. with a total 12" vertical display, it's not too overwhelming. On the other hand, the Model 3 horizontal large display, without driver cluster gauge display, just won't work for me.

Just some my personal experiences and observations to share on the subject.

Have you read from the beginning? I did and tried it. I have pointed out the both pros and cons and offered my opinions on it through out the thread.

Default How to make backup camera work...?

hzhao had mentioned that until a version comes out that deals with it in the harness, the backup camera is not getting the 6V power and its video output needs to be hooked up. Has anyone already done this? If I can sort it out, I’ll post the instructions.

I'll be curious to see how these will hold up after a few years of heat and cold. This is why automotive grade is necessary.

I still have concerns about the HVAC implementation. It sounded like from hzhao's experience it is not quite complete with less fan speeds and questions on whether deicer and filtration mode were on there. The latter wouldn't be a big deal bu the window deicer would for me.

Correct. In fact, it was far out pretty much made the small storage area in front of shifter nearly unusable. When I first tried, the one thing that I have mentioned that was the size, is a bit out of proportion with the rest of dash. I wish they would make a 12” instead of 16”. That’s my subjective opinion. Others may feel different.

Inside it has CPU, memory and storage just like this one. However, it doesn’t replace OEM control unit but piggyback it instead. So you can switch between OEM and Android on the go. Think of it having dual system sharing one screen.

What we really need is a screen that is physical the same size as OEM but higher in resolution and color depth. It has Android build in but also allow OEM to share the display. We get to keep all the physical **** and buttons and problem solved
I agree with this 100%. People get too greedy and try to replicate Tesla design but fail to realize the KISS principle sometimes.
