Hello all,
Just wanted to see what everyone experience with their rotors are.
I bought my 2014 GX a couple years back and since then, I have machined the rotors twice and just recently (3 month ago) put on new rotors and they are now warped again causing the vibrating issue when braking.
Is this a common issue with this car?
Thanks all.

I personally don't think rotors should be resurface anymore. They are expected to warp again in very short of time as they are thinner. It's really best to just replace both rotors and pads at the same time for best outcome. Or maybe replacing rotors every other time if they look okay. But I still would not resurface rotors.

Thanks hadekenuh for your reply.
Does it makes sense that I need to replace rotors every 3-4 months due to warping? That seems excessive to me considering I never did that with my previous cars.

This isnt common. I have 50k miles on my GX and both front and rear pads have been replaced and rotors are original, no issues whatsoever. I did a DIY on my front pads using OEM pads and didn't need to re-surface them neither.
Are you using OEM rotors and pads? If not, I would install a set and go from there.

It is unlikely that the rotors are actually warping. Warping a rotor on a street driven car (not on a race track) is next to impossible.
What is more likely is that you have brake deposits on your rotors. This will mimic the feeling of a warped rotor.
Start with fresh rotors and quality pads. Bed the pads properly and you should get lots of miles from your brakes.

Whatever you call it, its limited to couple of causes:
1) Terribly made brake parts
2) Failing brake parts
3) improper installation and care
4) the thing that exists between the steering wheel and drivers seat lol
Resolution:
1) Easiest is at your own risk, find a safe test area that avoids traffic etc (OBEY ALL LAWS) and bed in those brakes. Max heat and temps WITHOUT sitting on the pads after each stop. Then cool em down, without water.
2) Next is inspect your brakes with the wheels off. Determine if any seals are leaking, busted, all your hardware is operating properly and lubricated. See the pad wear as well (you should expect even wear). Discs should not have ridges (baddd) and smooth to the fingers.
3) If after that your experiencing issues, time to talk a mechanic to see whats up. Or you could just start here and call it a day!

This is abnormal.
My 2015 with 52k miles is still on OEM rotors and pads. At about 40k miles I felt some vibrations stopping from 50 mph but then I did some hard, high speed brake and it feels better after that...perhaps I got some bad deposits there

Most likely correct. On my TSX, the dealer told me that my rotors were warped at 30k miles. I re-bedded them and am still on the original pads/rotors at 82k miles with no vibrations.

But if you resurface them, and they go bad again in 3-4 months, then that's normal. I'd start fresh with a new set of rotors and pads. Preferably OEM.
