Default refresh or next gen

Picked up an 05 recently and it's become a hit beyond it's initial estimate. Wife even likes it and takes it whenever she can. One son wants to take it if he moves to Colorado in the spring. This leaves me with quite a dilemma. The first gen ran 7 model years with 08/09 the same. Current 460's are 3 years then refresh and now 7 years of yearly tweaks. Any guesses on when next Gen is going to hit the market? Hybrid maybe? I know when release dates leak values can plummet and that's one of the concerns.

Any guesses on when the next Gen hits, 2020 maybe, I can't see more than a 10 model year run for the generation. What's the longest that Toyota/Lexus have gone before and update and how far out would that project the current GX?

Lots of speculation...no clear answers regarding a refresh:

Also, the 460 was four years (2010-2013) and then the refresh, which is now on its 6th model year. The Toyota Land Cruiser has been around since the 2008 model year without a full redesign (though heavily refreshed) so the long time frame isn't exactly unprecedented. Toyota has refreshed the Land Cruiser Prado but has not done with same thus far with the GX so it is unknown when or if that will happen.

Also, I wouldn't necessarily assume that used values will "plummet" if another refresh or replacement is announced. The GX 470 is still holding its value well compared to its direct competitors, despite being quite old at this point. If you compare a 2008 GX 470 against a 2008 Audi Q7 or BMW X5, you'll likely be paying thousands more for the GX.

The GX has been rumored for a LX 16+ style refresh. As posted above me, when and if that refresh occurs is anybodys guess as i have been patiently waiting for the next generation GX (again same platform just another redo) with all the new goodies. This is the last vehicle that really shows its age interior wise.

I`d take a Base model GX model refresh on the same powertrain and chassis, just add in the LSS+ and current ES/LS/UX enform platform.

Considering a Premium pack GX with those crazy rebates was at 45+ TTL, a new launched is going to be snickering at $52+TTL (Speculation of course).
