Default Tow hitch feedback

Considering one of those hitches for my 2014 GX. For any members who has them, I appreciate if you can share your experience.

I took the time to look at both your Amazon links and my conclusion is that:
  1. they both look identical
  2. they both have great reviews/ratings
  3. the material thickness looks the same on both
So my next question to you and that you should be asking yourself is: what do you plan on towing? If it's just a little pop-up tent trailer, small boat trailer, etc. I would highly recommend either of those, preferably the cheaper of the two.
I would truly be more concerned about their quality and reliability if I were pushing the upper tow limits of your GX.

If you're not getting a fullsize hitch and towing a boat or trailer, then get a cheap one from eBay. It can tow up to 5000lbs and it is almost the same if not the same as both listed above for much cheaper. I got one and the quality is very good. I only use it for bike rack, cargo trays etc...
For newer GX, you may need to push a few washers between the bolts to clear the bumper.

Thanks fellas.
It will mostly be used for a bike rack, or tow a small camping trailer (under 3500 lbs loaded)
The Ebay item is only for US buyers. I'm in Canada. No such thing on Ebay Canada.

Heck, if you went and spent all that money on a Lexus GX 460, what's another $150ca to you for a simple hitch?
Tip, make sure you use either stainless steel or hardened nuts and bolts. DO NOT use any old steel nuts and bolts.
Also, I always use nylon insert nuts (sometimes called aircraft nuts). They will never come loose.

Just put the Lexus full-on hitch on a 2019 GX460 ... $345 and 90 minutes later, I now have a real hitch versus just a receiver. Comes in a Toyota box.

Use the bolts that come with the hitch ... they will be properly rated for the application.

Stainless Steel fasteners is a no-no for any load applications (suspension, hitches, steering..etc) since SS can shear easily. Grade 8 bolts and nuts are recommended.
Or, as mentioned, just use whatever fasteners that came with the hitch, it will be rated for the load it can withstand.

Exactly ... Grade-8 came with the Lexus hitch ... with Red LockTite highlighted in the instructions.

Amazon Amazon
Thats the one I have. Came with the cover also. My main use is protection from others in parking lots. I have no reason to think that it couldn't handle most loads.

Thanks..
When you said lower the spare tire, do you mean lower it during installation, or lower it permanently to accommodate the hitch?
I also read some posts about the hitch fouling with the rear bumper in recent model years (mine is a 2014). Did you come across this issue?

Thanks again

Just lower e it a little for installation. If you don't, you're going to have to force it in and scrape your paint. I have 2016. It seats perfect on bumber.

My bad for recommending SS bolts. Ya'll are right, absolutely agree, grade 8 bolts, but I'd still use the nylon insert nuts.
My suggestion was if the receiver didn't come with any hardware.

Yeah you're right. I saw the same Drawtite hitch from www.ebay.ca at the same price and free shipping.
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Trailer-Tow-Hitch-For-10-19-Lexus-GX460-All-Styles-2-Towing-Receiver-Class-3/231714927540?fits=Model%3AGX460%7CMake%3ALexus&hash=item35f34933b4:g:ilMAAOSwZZlbnJKN:rk:1f:0&vxp=mtr

If you just do light weight tows and bike rack this hitch would do just fine.
