I had my GX460 2016 for about a year now. I live in the mountains and notice that driving up and down in Sport mode is the best. It feels more sturdy and responsive around curbs. Once I am down the mountain, I switch to comfort to drive on the highway. This is where I cannot tell the difference between normal and confort.

I've never seen any documentation Crawl and AVS/RAHC work together. There is some documentation (on here... don't have link at moment) that states simply putting in 4L does affect RAHC behavior). I've never done any tests with OBD Fusion to validate though

On my 2010, I can definitely tell between comfort and sport just by driving on the streets going over bumps and pot holes. Even with small bumps, I could tell how less bouncy it is with Sport but at a more jolting feeling.
I found that when I had OEM tires. The best ride was when I set it to around 31-32PSI and in sport. Soft tires plus stiff suspension made a nice control ride. It's not the same with WildPeak AT/3 tires.

I normally run --->
Sport at higher speeds and twisties
I usually use Normal more than Comfort these days but still use Comfort off-road or when road is really bad.
Normal has the widest range of steps of all the modes

Comfort mode vs standard non luxury gx ride?
I tried searching, struggled to find what I was looking for. I a, wondering if the luxury series with the ride set on comfort is noticeably more soft/plush than a regular gx that does not offer the suspension setting choices. Would you consider the standard non luxury suspension to be most comparable to the normal setting or comfort? I may be more unusual in this regard, but a soft, cushy ride has much more appeal to me than a firmer, better “performing” ride feel.

I have AVS on my '12... I think from past discussions the middle NORMAL setting is close to what one feels on non-AVS vehicle.

If I'm not mistaken ... Lexus has used KYB or Tokico shocks on the non-AVS suspension ... that have slightly different ride characteristics. Best to to compare vehicles personally with a test drive.

Can a techstream or similar unit allowe to alter the adjustable suspension settings?
I was wondering once tapped into the GX460 computer, if there was a settings page where you alter settings for the adjustable suspension. I would like to make the sport setting more stiff. Can this be done with any type of device? How about other settings, such as changing the stiffness of the steering. Thx

I’ve never seen any Techstream settings related to customizing AVS.
Steering also isn’t part of the system and is mechanical hydraulic based

Spacer Lift with AVS
Hello guys,
I have a 2018 GX460 Luxury model. I am planning to lift the front with the spacers or new pair of coil springs. Since my truck has Adaptive Variable Suspension, will I be able to do these mods without messing up with the AVS system? Thank you so much!
regards

The adjustable suspension shock system is independent of the rear air bag suspension. You can swap just the front shocks and the rears will still work with adjustment. You can change all the shocks and it will not affect the air bag system or you can change the bags to springs and keep the adjustable shocks. Independent systems. I have Dobinson on my 2011 and I like it. I had OME on my 04 and it was as good but the Dobinson sells direct and has great customer service. I have a full lift now and with install at a local shop Ihad 2k into it. Remember that lifting the front requires an alignment and it is important to do it correctly. Make sure you have that figured into the cost or you will be eating up tires. Is it cost effective to cut corners…NO

Sport Mode Question
I wasn't able to confirm online so have a simple question. When I toggle between Sport, Normal and Comfort, should I see and indicator on the dash? Just the toggle, not moving the transmission shifter.

No indicator for all GX prior 2000. Since the center cluster info display is b/w dot matrix. For 2000+ GX, I am not sure if it follow all other Lexus models with different color accents in center cluster display, for example, comfort would be in blue, normal with no color, sports would be in red. For those who with 2000+ may be confirm that.
