I would have to drop my cold psi to about 27 to get a nice and warm 32 psi while driving. I’m looking for a more soft and supple ride so I may do just that.
32psi is all cold temps. If you want a more supple ride, upgrade to lighter tires and rims if possible. If I do keep this thing, I will switch to Premier LTX over the Lattitude Tour HP stock tires. Saves like 6 or 7 lbs of unsprung weight.

Run 36psi. Anything higher, ride gets really bumpy especially since air pressure rises once the tires get warmed up

32-33 psi, if I could go lower to achieve softer ride I would without adversely impacting the tires. These days roads are total crap and GX makes sure you feel all the bumps

Default Correct Spare Tire Pressure

I bought a 2020 GX last Oct. Something my dealership recommended confused me. They pumped the spare tire all the way to 50+ PSI but I can see the recommended number is 32PSI. It's the same as normal tires because it's a full size tire mounted on the same 18 rim. Do you guys think this is normal? Thanks in advance!

I would have the spare inflated with a higher PSI, but nothing more than the MAXIMUM listed on the tire itself. Tires lose air overtime due to seasonal changes.

I think it’s smarter to have it with a higher psi that could be deflated rather than the other way, especially when you don’t have a pump and need the spare on the side of the road.

The bottom line ... the spare tire is forgotten for years by the majority of owners ... so over time as the spare slowly loses air pressure, the TPMS light will illuminate and confound the majority of owners given the four tires (on the ground) have perfect tire pressures. Also, to add air to the spare tire (when this happens) requires that the spare be dropped to the ground to access the valve given the cosmetic face of the wheel is mounted upward to protect the finish from road debris. So to add air (or to check air pressure) is a PITA for most owners.

The spare tire can be safely inflated to the maximum rated pressure (in the summer) to avert the above for an extended period of time ... so your dealership was actually being thoughtful and proactive to your benefit. If you ever need to use the spare, it's a simple matter of bleeding air to the proper road-use air pressure.

BTW ... I do the exact same thing with my spares as your dealership. Just do not fill to maximum rated pressure in the dead of winter ... and then have the ambient temperature increase 80+ degrees in the following summer peak !

I understand the rationale for over inflating the spare tire, but 50 psi? That's not a little excessive?

I suggest picking up a 12v pump and keeping inside the vehicle.

The 50psi maximum rating is for on-road use with a safety margin ... so being in the spare (no load) location, do you really think this is worth debating ? Convention says it is normal for tires to lose 1-3 psi per month through osmosis. So how much time do you want to buy before having to deal with the TPMS light ... and drop the spare to reinflate ? Pick a pressure and be happy.

It is. This time I talked to another adviser in my dealership and she was surprised that it was pumped to such high pressure. It was immediately changed down to 40 PSI. The tire has a max rating of 51 PSI.

... she was simply appeasing your concern. That is her job ... that, and checking as many service boxes on the computer to make as much money for the dealership as possible (the extent of a service advisers expertise).
