I noticed the blower is pretty noisy as well in my 2014. In my GX, it's not a buzz, just not a very quiet sounding fan. Was wondering if it's operating normally but the Lexus cabin is just that quiet, especially because I can also hear other servos or motors operating within the center console (presumably related to automatic climate control adjustments). Either way, I noticed it the very first day I got my GX and it was kind of annoying already. The ventilated seat fans are kinda loud as well.

Sorry to bring back an old thread but have we found out whether having the A/C in Auto and Air Circulation mode in Auto will mean it will stay in Recirculation mode the whole time? I didn't notice this last summer but this year, it seems like it stays in Recirculation mode and doesn't change back to Circulation mode. Is there any concern with CO2 build-up over a long drive?

That setting can be changed.... I thought in stock settings but I know in TS as well for smog sensor sensitivity.

Mine has not been changed since I picked up the car (2013) used in 2017. It’s been set at the middle. The manual does mention something about recirculating mode during air conditioning operation. However, it seems odd that it won’t change even when level of smog is low.

It could be a bad sensor.

Mine changes from time to time. During hot days, it stays mostly in re-cycling mode. But when in winter seasons, it mostly stays in outside air mode. It works as it supposed to be.

I am not sure the auto recycle setting is directly related to smug sensor. from my experience, it seems take the consideration to the difference of outside temp and set temp. The A/C is on, it almost always switch to recycle mode, which helps quick bring down the temp. When A/C is not used for reduce cabin temp as in winter, it almost always in outside air mode until it senses smug.

Found this in the manual but was wondering if that means it will stay in recirculated air mode all summer (as long as temp outside is above 24). Seems odd since that would build-up CO2 I would think.

mattau: Interestingly ....this first shows up in the 2013 owner's manual.

I may need to note as a 2013 model year change in FAQ.

It isn't in 2012 or older

That is exactly what it is doing by design.

I started this thread shortly after buying my new 2018 GX, because the air worked nothing like my ES 350. The recirculate mode never turned off in the summer here in Texas. My dealer pointed out the section in the book that explains how the outside air will not work in automatic as long as the outside temperature is over 75 degrees. As it turns out that is exactly how it is designed to work, and switches back and forth at temperatures under 75. Over 75 the system stays on recirculate while in automatic mode. Of course you can manually change to outside air on demand at any temperature. I'm not sure why the change, but it is what it is.

Default 2010 GX Rear Climate Control Dead

Hi folks, searched but didn’t see anything related. I’m set to purchase a 2010 GX with good service history and 135k miles. Test drive and checked everything today, honestly drove good as new.. with one issue.

The rear climate control seems to be completely dead or broken. I made sure to turn on the 3 zone and pressed the “rear” physical button on the front console. Nothing lights up or works on the rear panel. LCD has no display and heated seat buttons don’t light up. The rear hvac seems to function fine when turning on from the front.

Any idea what this could possibly be, not ruling out user error yet. Not sure if the module is dead or maybe a fuse blown?

Loose connection? Easy to check if you have some time with the vehicle. That whole section behind the center console just pops out. Maybe a loose wire connection going to the display.

or... leave it as is and use it as leverage for your price negotiation

Thanks! Yep, I already settled on a price with this known issue. I’ll be sure to check the connections.

If it happens to be the actual unit that’s broken, a junk yard replacement should be less than $100.
