@Josh1899 This was my thought as well but I wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy.

you dont need a reader, you press the button combination/steps shown and a code will show up on the AC control screen.

I think this is normal behavior. Two of our other Lexus vehicles do the same thing. I have been told this is to get the warm/stale air out of the ductwork before cranking the fan up. It seems to make sense to me, but my wife hates it and controls the HVAC manually, lol.

Mine also waits 10-15 seconds for the ac to start blowing. I think it's waiting for the evaporator to get cool. I know it waits for the coolant temp to warm up some before the heater comes on in cold weather. I sometimes wish it had a "just give me whatever ya' got, now!" button.

It's great to hear everyone is experiencing something similar. Sounds like its pretty normal. Thanks everyone!

Default what does the AUTO button do?

does it change the temperature based on the outside or cabin temps. or does it just auto adjust based on the temp displayed on the console?

when it was 65 a few days ago, when i hit auto (70), it was blowing slightly warmer than ambient air through (recirculating on).

then for the past two days it’s been over 85 and when i hit it, after approximately ten to fifteen minutes, my fingers start to get numb. (recirculating on and still set to 70)

Huh, trying to figure out why a neural net is needed to control the interior temp - maybe there is some useful nonlinear mapping required for using sensor data, other than current interior temp, for smoother/more stable delivery of air/temp.

I've noticed some oddities over the years when my 3rd zone HVAC was set to an extreme temperature from the front cabin settings.

Seems like complexity overkill. Maybe some internal team got bored and then marketing thought it might be useful to signal how sophisticated the system was. Or some exec got excited about it and pushed it.

I’m basically comfortable with 70 degrees for summer and winter so I keep it on 70 Auto, which means I’m the summer it blows AC to keep 70 and the winter heat to keep 70. This way the fan turns up/down based on the needed auto adjustment. My son and father both have ES350’s and they like to manually adjust fan and temps. To each their own.

this is what im doing. but when the outside temp is lower than 70, it doesnt seem to blow cold air and instead wants to blow abient air.

its currently 60, and tonight on my way home, when i hit auto it wasnt blowing cold air, yet this morning on my way in it was freezing.

i dont have an issue or complaining, just want to understand whats going on.

Only time I had issues with AC blowing high continuously in my 2013, I was fiddling with it and turned the rear AC off the day before, then had it on auto. I assume it was trying to cool the whole interior and my hands and ears got frosty. Once I turned everything back on, it cooled and settled on the lower preset fan speed.

Just a feeling of mismatched air temps from 3rd zone over my shoulder from second row roof vents but mainly caused by extreme temp settings and those vents directed forward. Probably more to be expected than an oddity. Frankly I just set it and forget it.

If you think the temp readout isn't quite on for temp there is a way with TS to adjust it to more closely match temp you think it is by 2-3 degrees IIRC.

I just wish it had a 'sync' button for ( at least ) the front (dual) zone control!
